New York’s Finger Lakes region takes its name from 11 freshwater lakes placed like a handprint between Lake Ontario and the Pennsylvania border. Skiing, hiking and biking trails traverse the landscape; visitors can also indulge in various wine, cheese and beer trails. The area offers a culinary bounty, with an emphasis on farm-to-table cuisine. Rich history and culture are found throughout the region, with one attraction more inviting than the next.

We loved all the little details like home baked cookies and fresh lemonade and iced tea every day. The house is beautifully decorated and the meticulous attention to detail was impressive. Perhaps the title of our review will give you an indication of our experiences, but this is easily one of the best, if not best, B&Bs we’ve ever stayed at, We were greeted by Marcus and their dog, Stella (she by the way is a very sweet and friendly dog that we loved). We got to meet Elin the next morning as we had arrived late. The attention to details, quality of our breakfasts and beauty of their home was simply amazing. They accommodated us so thoughtfully as among the four of us some were vegetarians and one of us did not eat eggs. This presented no issues whatsoever for Elin and Marcus as their breakfasts were delicious and prepared with our tastes strictly in mind. Another wonderful aspect of Idlewild is the number of “community rooms” to hang out, play games and simply relax. They insisted on our making ourselves at home and utilizing certain areas of the kitchen for storing or heating up leftovers or snacks. Marcus was often checking in to ensure we were comfortable and was so accessible as he responded practically instantaneously to one’s text. The bedrooms themselves were spacious and beautiful, spotlessly clean, too, thanks to their excellent and very friendly staff. Those, too, who assisted in the serving of our breakfasts were equally friendly and yet professional and courteous. Marcus and Elin have constructed a webpage, so user friendly and very informative concerning places to hike, eat or visit. Further, they were incredibly helpful in guiding us to places such as wineries and restaurants and places to hike, thereby expanding on the information already proffered on their website/webpage. The huge and wonderful deck, too, opened up to inspiring views of Lake Seneca and there was a gazebo on the grounds. Many places are within walking distance and be prepared to get some great exercise as the streets present some steep hills. But we loved that too as Idlewild is located and situated such that you get those beautiful views of the region. We’re going back in the late fall so this, too, should tell you how we feel about this place: the area and most importantly its owners, Elin and Marcus, their staff, the accommodations and Stella! Cannot recommended Idlewild Inn enough.

A Luxury Bed & Breakfast with Five Guest rooms. One night stays welcome. Formerly the Jackson's Perkins Rose Company Estate this historic 1840's Tudor with the personallized service of a Boutique Hotel. Furnished with antiques and gracefully poised on a park-like setting, including formal gardens and fall colored woodlands. Two blocks from the Eire Canal in the New York Finger Lakes region, just minutes from Rochester, wine trails, apple farms, outlet shopping, and area attractions. Encounter warm hospitality and the charm of a vintage B&B with modern conveniences.
Quaint little place. Love the old vintage style rooms with the 100 year old floor squeaks. We were visiting the Palmyra/Newark area on and LDS (Mormon) historical sites tour so it was quite fitting. Everything is not perfect which makes it perfect. Such character and we were well taken care of. Lovely sun rooms and sitting areas. We were out and about and only slept here. Next time will enjoy the property more. Would definitely come back.

A beautiful 1800's Greek Revival home situated in the heart of the Finger Lakes, NY. We have 11 well appointed guest rooms, all with private baths. Our guests enjoy a gourmet breakfast each morning including a choice of entree, sides of meat, potatoes, home baked bread, fresh fruit, coffee, tea and juice. Just minutes from the Cayuga and Seneca Lake Wine Trails. Great for romantic getaways, or for groups to get together, relax and enjoy all that the Finger Lakes has to offer. Whether you are coming for the wine/beer trail, amazing hiking and boating or just a quiet respite, we are here for you. Make our home your home away from home!
Glass Magnolia sits between Seneca and Cayuga lakes. Interlakken is a quiet town surrounded by what are mostly dairy farms and wineries. The house is in a downtown area but enjoys a spacious back yard with some privacy. We stayed in the Lady Jayne room which had its own private entrance. Despite some peculiarities, like a small step up into the bathroom, the king sized bed was very comfortable. Both Nancy and Wally, our hosts, were gracious and made excellent suggestions for restaurants, wineries and waterfalls. BTW Wally was an executive chef for 40 years before retiring. The breakfasts were better than great! For an example, our last meal he served us Brie and Ham stuffed French toast with a side of sautéed onion tater tot mix pressed into a waffle iron. Three slices of bacon garnished the top of the potato waffle. The French toast was served with a peach butter and a homemade raspberry sauce. The guests were also able to get fresh brewed coffee or cold bottled water 24/7.

What a wonderful stay at the fabulous, clean, and comfortable William Henry Miller Inn! We had a great night’s sleep in the Turret. The location can’t be beat. We easily took a waterfall-filled hike before an amazing breakfast. From the desserts waiting for us in our room to the coffee and tea station to the service, there is attention to detail that exceeded our expectations.

What a great find! We stayed in the cabin; it is a perfect place to relax, bed is comfortable, and the quilts are warm and pretty. Enjoyed the beautiful views in the morning with coffee or at night at the fire pit with friends after a fun day at the winery. Breakfast is delicious the home-grown berries and juice made it even better. The owners are super friendly and knowledgeable of the area all question my husband asked had been answered, thank you Charles for taking your time to talk to us, you and your wife are blessed with a beautiful home and grounds.
