The capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, Dusseldorf is a regional economic powerhouse straddling the banks of the Rhine River. Altstadt is not just Dusseldorf's lovely old town, but also where the city's nightlife is based and where Altbier, its native dark beer, is plentiful. Dusselforfians take their beer seriously. Königsallee (Ko to the locals), Dusseldorf's famous shopping street, has many high-end stores. And the Museum Kunst Palast has one of the Rhineland's best art collections.

We stayed here to visit the 'Final Fantasy - Distant Worlds' concert at the Mitsubishi Electric Halle, which is close to the hotel (about a 15 minute walk) and made it the ideal choice to stay. There's plenty of parking space (underneath the hotel), and there's public transport nearby (Tram 705) that leads directly to the city center. (about a 15-20 minutes ride) We found out that you can buy tickets on the tram itself at a ticket-machine and decided to buy 48-hours free-traveling tickets, which had a nice reduction in price if bought for multiple travelers. The hotel itself is a budget hotel with limited staff and doesn't have its own restaurant (so no option for an included breakfast), but there are two restaurants in the same building that can facilitate breakfast, lunch and dinner. I had a very decent lunch at the cloud-kitchen myself. The other restaurant is an all-you-can-eat&drink, which we enjoyed as well. The rooms of the hotel are small, decent and clean. All the usual facilities were there (an okay shower, toilet, TV, hairdryer, etc.) but don't expect too much luxury. I was pleasantly surprised however, that the window possessed a roll-down-shutter system. I like my room dark at night ;) Also, checking out it easy. You simply don't have to. ;) The doors do unlock after the checkout time however, so that the cleaners can do their job. The personal code to unlock your door will become invalid after that time. The only real drawback to this hotel is that it doesn't have air-conditioning in its rooms (it does have a radiator). We were here in March, so no issues there, but I can imagine the rooms can become really hot during summer. All-in-all the place definitely offers great value for its price/night, and would definitely stay here again if there's another concert to our liking! =)

located very well, acceptable room, unique windows at the ceiling (rooms at the ground floor), it is operated by a friendly family. It is good for 2 nights stay, if you are looking for the cheapest option. The free good internet is really something helpful.

Very nice hotel, ideally situated near the centre. Checking in was a breeze, with a very helpfull receptionist. The room was very nice and spacious with WiFi and a nice bathroom. Breakfast was also plentyfull with the possibility of making your own waffels! Check out is at 11. As we arrived home I realized that I had left my jacket in the hotel with my keys inside. A quick e-mail solved the problem as the hotel sent my belongings to my home adres! We'll definitely be back sometime.

Great hotel in the middle of Aldstadt. The room was spacious, bed was comfortable and we had a fabulous shower. Good double glazing meant we didn’t hear any street noise. The staff were also friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a buffet style with meat, cheese, fruit, cereal. The only down side was that we had 2 single duvets rather than a double/king size and there were no tea/coffee facilities in the room, so we had to get takeaway hot drink on the way back at night.

I booked the Messeschlaf for a quick overnight stay during BOOT, the ten day water activities/scuba diving show at Messe. Check in was very quick and efficient, I loved the friendliness of the owner who speaks perfect English and helped me with some queries as to local takeaway delivery. I had booked a single room and it by far exceeded my expectations: spotlessly clean, some toiletries provided, it had a desk, super fast free WiFi, a small sofa and a comfortable full sized single bed. In short, a perfect hotel for a quick visit to Düsseldorf if you would rather not pay the much higher central Düsseldorf prices. Lohausen might not appear as the first choice when visiting Düsseldorf but it has excellent connections by bus directly to the airport (the bus stop is a few mins on foot from the hotel) and a Tram line within a short walk from the hotel (around 15mins) if you wish to get into town or to the exhibition centre at Messe.

Pros: - Location - close to airport, supermarket, places to eat - Clean, Simple accommodation - Price - Communication and Organisation are good Cons - Basic accommodation - bed, ensuite shower & toilet - but that's it - Aircraft noise up to 10PM I stayed a night as my normal hotel was booked full, but this was fine for a night or maybe two, and would be good as budget accommodation if you wanted to see the local area.
