The Malartrie Manor is ideally situated in the heart of the golden triangle of the Périgord Noir, only a minute away from the famous gardens of Marquessac, between the banks of the Dordogne River and the cliffs of Roque Gageac. From the garden and the heated swimming pool, you will enjoy the panoramic views of the Dordogne valley. The rooms, all spacious, are modern and comfortably equipped. They are sophisticated, with precious fabrics and luxurious decoration.
I recently stayed at Le Manoir de la Malartrie to celebrate my 50th birthday with family and friends. It was my 3rd visit to this beautiful place and it was all I could have hoped for. The rooms and gardens are extraordinarily gorgeous. The pool is warm as is the hospitality of Ouaffa, the host of this wonderful place. She made everything about my celebration fantastic and I will always be grateful to her. This is a bucket list destination and well worth every penny.

Nestling inside a verdant setting dotted with centenarian trees, Château de Lalande, an elegant 18th to 19th century castle fully refurbished, blends charm and elegance by the Isle Valley, 12 km from Périgueux, 30mn from Brantôme, 1h from Sarlat in the heart of Périgord. This upscale Château-Hotel, a balance between tradition and modernity, offers 17 quiet, highly comfortable guest rooms, including suites and junior suites, every one air-conditioned and customised through meticulous decoration. The park, the swimming pool with its hundred-year-old wisteria, the outside terrace, the relaxation lounge, the seminar room, the gourmet restaurant with its hushed decor are all yours for the taking within this laid-back, restful ambience.
We had 2 rooms here for 2 nights. The Chateau is very beautiful with a lovely pool, which was wonderful after a long day sight seeing. We had to wait until 4.45pm before our rooms were ready which was disappointing. We were given a complimentary drink by way of apology. Our rooms were on the 3rd floor, they were nice if a little small and the bathrooms seemd dated and small. Also quite a struggle lifting luggage up 3 flights of stairs. We booked dinner both nights here and we were not disappointed. The food, service and ambience were exceptional and we thouroughly enjoyed both evenings. The staff throughout were pleasant, again slightly disappointed that on returning at 4pm one afternoon we couldn't get in our room because they were cleaning even though we had been out since 8.30am All in all though an enjoyable stay and we would recommend.

Situated in Sarlat city, a few minutes from the medieval historical city center, Le Clos de la Canéda offers an exceptional location. You will be amazed by the region’s beauty and diversity near Dordogne’s most beautiful sites. Le Clos de la Canéda is an old stone farmhouse aged more than 200 years set in a typical Périgord oak forest. With its two rooms and cottage accommodation, the human-size house is a heaven of peace with an atmosphere of conviviality. The garden, fitted out in several spaces, invites relaxation. And so does the secluded and sunny swimming pool with its comfortable sunbeds. Free private parking. Animals are not admitted.
We were here in December and at that time we were the only one stayed there (due to low season). We rent the 2 room accommodation on 2nd floor. The place is considered big in European standard. It has one family room (including dining table), kitchenette, 2 bedroom and big shower room. The owner is very friendly and she suggested some places to go in Dordogne. The breakfast was amazing; it is fresh made, has a lot of option and one of the best breakfast we ever had during our stay in France. At that time period, we cannot use the pool because of the cold weather, but I can see during summer it will be a good place to cool down as well. It has free private parking place as well, which is obviously really helpful. Wifi is very reliable and everyday the room was cleaned. Overall it is a very recommended place to stay!

We stayed here for 3 nights in this beautiful B & B. Valerie & Alain could not have been more hospitable. There are only 2 guest rooms & we were in the 1 that were for couples. The room was well appointed & clean & opened up to a small terrace. Our hosts were full of recommendations & it is only a short drive into Bergerac. Our breakfasts were magnafique. My wife is coeliac & Valerie prepared special gluten free things for her at breakfast. They sat with us at breakfast so we really could get to know each other. The grounds are beautiful with a swimming pool & it set around some beautiful vineyards. It is a place to relax but it also within easy driving distance to many of Dordognes sights. We had a wonderful time here & recommend it highly.

I just love this hotel. I relish peace and quiet on vacation and Castel Merle delivered. Magnificent setting above the Vezere river and sweeping views of farms and forests. There is a glen below the butte where archaeologists are working on ancient cave dwellings. I was there one day in late afternoon just before sunset and the only sound was the trill of a bird surrounded by absolute silence. This excerpt from a Steven Lawhead books explains it more profoundly than I could. (This is from a novel where a 20th century man mysteriously goes back in time to the Great Britain of the ancient Celts) As I sat nursing my misery, it occurred to me that the hillside had grown very quiet. No, not grown quiet—it had always been so. And not merely quiet: that is, not just silent—as in the absolute absence of sound—but still, hushed, and peaceful. I heard a world at rest with a deep and natural quiescence. As I sat there, with my arms wrapped around my knees, abject misery slowly metamorphosed into a tranquility that I had never, ever, known in the world that I had left behind. Affordable and comfortable hotel with delightful hosts. I hope to have the good fortune go there again.

At 5 km from Sarlat, in the heart of the Dordogne,"Périgord noir", in a pleasant setting, wooded and quiet surroundings, enjoy the poolside of our 5 comfortable rooms with separate entrances, including breakfast. At 2 km from the Dordogne valley with its main sites, many hiking trails nearby, circuit cards available. Sarah, Hoël and their children welcome you and are at your disposal to inform you so that your stay is as pleasant as possible. Local produce, good humor guaranteed.
We took a family room which was a fair standard for the amount paid (a double and a bunk bed in one room with a good size en suite shower room). It was clean and the children especially liked the sleeping bag style bedding on the bunk beds - very snuggly for a late October night. The owner spoke good English and was helpful. Breakfast was provided and served in a conservatory overlooking the countryside. The only negative was that on a cold night I didn’t want to leave the electric heater on once we went to sleep because the curtains were draped over it, so it got a bit chilly. I would definitely stay here again.

It's been the third time that we stayed at La Maison De Leopold and we can't get enough of it. Valerie is the most welcomig host, the rooms are airconditioned and very comfortable, the breakfast is excellent. One can't wish anything more. By now we consider this B&B as a necessary stop during our stay in this part of France. Terrasson is a charming little town and an excellent base to explore the region. We certainly will be back!
