We had a lovely, three-night stay at The Homestead. Our room was spacious as was the ensuite bathroom. The amenities are outstanding and thoughtful based on the gracious owner’s extensive travels. The grounds are charming with several areas to enjoy breakfast, an evening glass of wine or just watch the chipmunks cavort. The interior rooms are cozy and contain an eclectic mix of antiques, music paraphernalia, and some whimsical mementos. There are excellent breakfast options tailored to COVID protocols, with numerous coffee selections, and snacks are available throughout the day. Movie theater popcorn is a nightly treat. Reliable and powerful WiFi too. Madison and neighboring Guilford and Branford offer interesting sights, shops, cafes and restaurants. We can’t wait to return.

The grounds are beautiful, too. Erika was accommodating and pleasant. We wish we could've stayed longer.

We stayed in the Carriage House for 3 nights because there was roofing work going on at the main building. Breakfast was really good, including freshly baked treats. We really liked the live music and complimentary wine during happy hour. Plenty of places for dinner within walking distance.

The beautiful view is just the beginning. Once you walk through the door, you will instantly feel at home. A convenient location and peaceful surroundings make Inn at Fox Hill Farm the perfect setting for your weekend retreat in NE Connecticut. Hidden away, off scenic Rt. 169, and sitting on 75 wooded acres and rolling pastures, this charming country cottage includes: private entrance, large living room, kitchen, deck w/lake view, king bed and private bath.
We chose to stay here because it is close to the AirLine Trail, and we are training for a bike tour. (As full disclosure, it is about 3 hilly miles from the trail.) We could not have been happier with our stay. The cottage was lovely and quaint, but the best part was the patio. We sat out there for hours looking at the pond, the beatififul grounds, and watching bunnies frolic (seriously!). The home made, served breakfast was a perfect way to get us back on our bikes again. We definitely want to come back. I imagine the fall would be perfect!

This beautiful Greek Revival built in 1833 is perfectly located in the center of Madison. Park your car and walk to the beaches, restaurants, movie theater and boutiques. Our inn is available for small parties, weddings, business meetings and luncheons. Call the inn to discuss plans for your next event.
Michael is a wonderful host and makes you feel welcome and at home in his inn. Breakfast are wonderful. He has a passion for cooking and puts thought into making each morning special. Staying at the inn feels like staying at a friend’s. Its a living house not a showcase where you are afraid to touch things. The various rooms are your’s to use and enjoy. The furniture is comfortable and rooms are inviting. Michael is also a great source of information abt the area, welcomes questions and offers suggestions. The next day he follows up to make sure it worked out. Its a visit that feels good for the soul. And you often find yourself smiling at some little detail you notice. He thinks of everything. Madison itself is a lovely little community. I stayed in the small room. It was fine for 1 person. I think for 2 it could be tight. Hopefully next time I can plan far enough in advance to score one of the larger rooms with a jacuzzi!

In Summer season, you can walk to the beach and restaurants. We are on the river with a lovely fire-pit seating area, perfect to enjoy a cocktail and watch the sunset. Use one of the Inn's kayaks to explore the river and enjoy the bird watching on this beautiful estuary. We also have many outside areas to relax and escape from the everyday. The fall and winter are exquisite in New England with glorious crisp days to enjoy leaf peeping, apple picking, winery or craft brewery visits. There are so many attractions including Old Mystic Village, Seaport and Aquarium, Casinos and the Essex Steam Train and Connecticut Riverboat. Our Inn is centrally located and a perfect home base. Our guest enjoy all the conveniences of a boutique hotel including a delectable homemade two course breakfast, fresh baked cookies and lemonade, complimentary bikes, kayaks, beach chairs, beach towels, and umbrellas. Upgraded linens, amenities and robes. We provide transportation from the Westbrook train station.
I stayed in the Salt Island room which is accessible directly from the outside. The room was charming and well appointed. The main part of the house, where breakfast is served is so beautiful and breakfast was great. The outdoor spaces are nice with tables and a lovely walk to the dock where you can use kayaks that are supplied. There is a short walk to the beach and some nice restaurants and if you are driving there are even more wonderful restaurant available. I would recommend Westbrook Inn.

The Copper Beech Inn portrays subtle and refined elegance in traditional New England style. The intimate country hotel is situated in the hamlet of Ivoryton, Connecticut, one of three small villages within the historic town of Essex on the Connecticut River.Rediscover the art of relaxation and experience luxurious comfort in one of the inn's 22 guest rooms and suites in the Main House, the Carriage House or the most recent addition, the Comstock House. Period antiques, oriental rugs, and richly textured fabrics and upholstery are abundant, combined with thoughtful amenities. The quaint villages of the Lower Connecticut River Valley are just minutes away, each one evoking the essence of the New England village of long ago. The history and culture, the pristine Connecticut River, the seaside landscape of Long Island Sound and the abundance of recreational opportunities are endless in this very special area of the Connecticut River Valley, all just a two-hour drive from New York or Boston.Begin with the discovery of the riverside village of Essex, with boutiques, art galleries, antique shops and the Connecticut River Museum. Just a few miles up the river is the picture perfect town of Chester, offering the visitor art galleries, gift shops, unique clothing stores, and antique shops.
Based on pictures and most reviews, we expected a lovely inn with excellent food. We were not in any way disappointed. Our room in the Comstock house was neat, clean and comfortable. Each of the courses for our dinner was excellent. Breakfast (included) offered many choices and each that we had was delicious. But what made our stay really memorable was the staff: Giana, Lois, Joseph and Christa. Surely there are many more whom we did not meet (especially the kitchen staff) who contributed to our enjoyment. Often you will find a lovely hotel/inn that checks all the boxes but leaves you a little cold. Not here! Each of the staff was warm, personable and down to earth. We remember each most fondly and thank them for making us feel so welcome and for sharing many laughs with us.

Under new ownership in 2019, The West Lane Inn, built in 1849, combines the charm of an intimate country inn with the conveniences found in a large hotel. The inn is situated in the historic district about 1/2 mile to downtown Ridgefield. The town of Ridgefield is quaint, scenic and alive with cultural and historical sights.
This is our second time staying at the West Lane Inn. The inn is in walking distance of the shops and restaurants of charming Ridgefield, CT. There is even an awesome movie theatre not far from the inn. Christine and Danille are wonderful, professional host. They make you feel right at home as soon as you arrive. Every morning they serve a delicious breakfast and there are snacks and coffee/tea throughout the day. Although our son was getting married in Brewster, NY we chose to have several of our guest stay with us at the inn. The staff was great, cleaning our beautiful rooms around our hectic schedule. The fabulous front porch made it easy for all of us to gather before and after the wedding. Looking forward to our next visit.

**UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT AS OF JUNE 1st, 2010** Debra, former manager of the Rocky Neck Inn & Suites in Niantic, CT, is working with new management of Thames to renovate this waterfront gem. Please see reviews of the Rocky Neck Inn for the past year (July 2009-May 2010) for a preview of what's to come!
My family has stayed at the Thames Inn a couple of times. It’s not a high end, fancy place. You can pay the high end prices if you need that. But this place is clean, comfortable, within walking distance to a few restaurants, has a beautiful river view with sunsets, and has friendly and helpful staff. It’s an underrated gem and we will return next spring.
