The lodge is 1 star at best. There is no attention to detail. The rooms are spacious, but the beds are not turned down for the evening and yet I arrived at the end of a working day. I had a cold shower with only 1 towel in the room and no floor mat/towel to step onto after I showered. I would not come here if I had a choice. Look it’s clean. It’s basic, but not really a place I would chose particularly since Lilongwe has better options for lodge-type accommodation that are probably better than this place.

Nelly's Guesthouse is an excellent choice for travelers visiting Lilongwe, offering many helpful amenities designed to enhance your stay. Free wifi is offered to guests, and rooms at Nelly's Guesthouse offer a flat screen TV, air conditioning, and a refrigerator. During your stay, take advantage of some of the amenities offered, including a 24 hour front desk, room service, and newspaper. Guests of Nelly's Guesthouse are also welcome to enjoy a lounge, located on site. During your visit, be sure to check out one of Lilongwe's popular Mediterranean restaurants such as Mediterraneo Italian Restaurant and Orchid Cafe & Restaurant, all a short distance from Nelly's Guesthouse. There is no shortage of things to do in the area: explore popular government buildings such as Parliament Building. Enjoy your stay in Lilongwe!
This is a B and B place, very decent and well located in a poshy area. Staff always eager to help and support. Reception responsibilities could be improved in explaining everything to a guest especially how the Internet work. Internet is free from 6 to 6 after which you need to pay for it. Much as I had paid for it, it never worked. Also realised later that Internet is free during weekends. The breakfast is not the best but good enough. Being a quiet residential area, one needs transport. It is also a bit far from the business centres. For a proper meal, there is Country Lodge nearby which has excellent food, mostly Indian cuisine.

Thanks to Rudolf and Gerda ( Barefoot team) for the wonderful experience. 5+7= 12km hike, that included rock climbing , Rock art view and walking between vivid flora, everything was so refreshing. Pottery collection is indeed worth watching.

We provide business to all type of guests
We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of our stay at Golden Peacock in Lilongwe. We had rooms in the new wing, which were clean and decently furnished with international standard fittings. A lot of appliances were labelled in Chinese with Chinese plugs as well, however there were also international sockets available. Water pressure was excellent in the shower and wifi was reasonably fast. Breakfast was nothing special but perfectly adequate for purpose. Overall, definitely somewhere I'd be happy to stay again.

The first thing to say is that the gardener, the cook and the two young who serve and clean are very helpful and sympathetic. The manager however and the owners present themselves as helpful but are only interested in the cash register. It appears that they underpay their staff and overcharge their clients given the poor service that they provide. The self-catering chalet where I stayed and the most expensive of all the rooms on offer had no self-catering facilities and no running water in the kitchen. Though there were solar panels on the roof, they did not supply electricity during the frequent power cuts in the night. In the four nights that I stayed, I often had to sit in the dark without any power. Though there was a petrol generator it either didn’t work but in any event was never switched on. One of the air conditioning units did not function at all and low water pressure prevented toilets from flushing. The chalet had a constant smell of mould due to poor construction and poor maintenance. The infrequently used chalets had frogs in the toilet, cockroaches on the floor, slugs in the shower. This is not what you would expect for the most expensive accommodation in town. What was most distressing about my stay was the uncompromising attitude of the manager and owner who refused to offer a discount for my stay during which I had no hot water and a shower that had no pressure. On top of this they wanted to charge extra for the WiFi connection in my room. I cannot possibly recommend this lodge to other travelers.
