lovely b&b at a great location
Reviewed By AstridD544we booked very spontaneously at this lovely b&b while on a tour with our bycicles which we could store safely in the basement. the people working there are very nice and gave us great dinner ideas, very welcoming, breakfast was also really good and the room was spotless and nicely furnished. also, the location is good, for us everything was in walking distance.

The newly renovated Hotel and Restaurant Charnsmatt offers for Familys as well as Gourmets whatever they wish for. Our specialties are mainly made out of local products from local farmers. Our playground just in front of the building is very famous. Since March 2015 we also have an indoor playground and other extras that are perfect for children. Our Hotel guests can chose between single-, double- and family rooms. The rich breakfast buffet is included in the room prize.

Reviewed By 797davideoI spent just one night during a business trip in this Hotel close to Luzern. It is basically a nice play to stay and where to spend some time as the staff is very nice with you. I've also had a delicous dinner. Very recommended also for the price. Very good value!

Straightforward, clean lines but still comfortable and comfortable. If you are looking for excellently located accommodation with private parking and excellent public transport links, our hotel offers the ideal solution - with excellent value for money.
Not really a hotel
Reviewed By ARGENTRICAThere are several plus points to this "hotel". The bedroom is basic but spotlessly clean. Shower room is good and spotless (toiletries are very basic). Good breakfast, especially at the weekend when it "goes up a notch" with smoked salmon, meats, eggs etc. However: After we booked, we were advised that reception closes at 5 pm and as we arrived quite late, we had to use a side entrance, get a key from a key box, using a code and go up 2 flights of stairs (no lift available after 5). We couldn't locate the light switch the 1st time. There is no real hotel reception, during the week - it is the information desk for the cookery school, so there was little advice or help on hand. We did manage to get a timetable for the bus into Lucerne - which was very useful. There is no hotel atmosphere - the rooms are just rooms on the 2nd floor of the building. The bar is closed at 5 and there are limited places to eat/buy things nearby. It may be OK (dependent on your reason for being in Lucerne) but it has its limitations.

Advertises low but quickly adds up
Reviewed By bailiej757We first looked at this hotel because it advertised a fr 100 room. That turned out to be a multi bed shared room. Not what we wanted so we reserved a private room at fr 175. The rooms are clean, and fresh but a bit spartan. Breakfast is included and is eggs to order and continental. Garage parking for bikes too. Really is a bit expensive for what you get.

Good hotel but please no more pizza.....
Reviewed By H606SGlouisemWe had an overal good stay in this hotel, although we think the prices in the restaurant downstairs are way too high. A karaf of water for € 10,50 is over priced. The room was good, bathroom clean and the bed was fine. But what we think is a negative point for this hotel the 24/7 pizza shop at the side of the hotel. This gives a lot of noise of the people who come into the night to get their pizza from the machine. We had a bad night of sleep because of all the cars coming and people talking loud while ordering, waiting and finally eating their pizza in the parking lot.

They were very helpful with my wishes. The room was comfortable and spacious. The parking house leads directly to the reception. Breakfast was super. The cherry on the icing: Home made Bircher Müesli with honey instead of sugar!

Also loved the decorations with old posters of Rigi and the region's attractions + the location with restaurants and cafés closeby as well as the boat stop and places to have a dip in the lake when it was hot. Higly recommend this place!

A wonderful meal at the Gasthaus, great hotel

The desk manager showed how to get downtown and how to get around the different places to visit.Very friendly fellow and spoke good english. We had dinner the first night at the hotel. Very good food and friendly staff with a good sense of humor.

Don't let the windy road to get to the Gasthaus intimidate you...the views and accommodations are worth every twist and turn! We arrived at sunset our first night and were treated to the most breathtaking views of Lake Lucerne, surrounded by the majestic Alps. One of our favorite moments of our vacation! Inside the rooms were up to date and spacious. Our friends had a four person room, with a double bed and a set of bunk beds. They also had a lovely sitting area and million dollar views. My husband and I had a double room with a balcony that overlooked the terrace area of the hotel. While our friends had a private bathroom, our was shared but this posed no problems for us. Breakfast was amazing, with the croissants being the best we were offered all trip and ranking in some of our top 5 things we ate all vacation. Not having easy access to public transport, is a bit of a bummer- it's a 15 min drive to the nearest train station, and that's Horw- which does connect to Lucerne and several other cities, but you have you pay to park at the train station. A hotel shuttle to public transport would be a huge bonus. Apart from that, this Gasthaus' setting cannot be beat. The restaurant is amazing (reviewed separately) and the price is spot on for the area. I would highly recommend for groups, couples, and families.

It Was nice
Reviewed By Oscar1954The hotel is quite close to LUZERN. We arrived with a private car so occasionally we drove to LUZERN for restaurants and hang out and also to walk around. Its advantage is that there is free adjacent parking for hotel guests. Those arriving without a car have a bus to LUZERN right at the entrance of the hotel. It is a cozy family hotel, with very large rooms. Reasonable breakfast Nice staff
