Badehotellet is a hotel with traditions going back to 1880. Also catering for private dinner parties. Lying in idyllic Holmsbu, 1 hour from Oslo and 30 min. from Drammen or Drobak, it can cater for the need to relax or to be more active. Summer visitors are welcome to activities including golf (3 different courses within 30 min. drive), sea bathing, gallery visits or shopping in the immediate area of Holmsbu.
Very nice place, but very young waiters who was totally without experience. They did not know anything They ought to have cash/change. The best place in Holmsbu with history and nice location. Quiet and with clas

The food were amazing and the atmosphere was really charming. Every room has a story. Our room were the Lensmannens Kontor (Head Of Police Office). This is from old times when the building. There is also a store on the attic called Grandmother’s Attic that’s worth visiting

We chose Veggli vertshus because they wrote that they had traditional food. This is simply not correct. If you just want icecream I guess Veggli vertshus will do but if not then I would recommend to move on. We ordered a flaguette, an omelette and a vegetarian salad. They all had the same salad: Iceberg, tomato, cucumber, hermetic corn and paprika. 3 white bread triangles and thousand Island dressing. No proteins and very few calories in the salad. This cannot be seriously meant? The flaguette came with some “pulled” grilled chicken (dry) and a couple of bacon strips. The bacon omelette looked over cooked but tasted fine. The omelette was also served with white bread and thousand island. Coffee tasted ok and was complimentary. I would recommend the owners to reconsider what they offer.

Stayed here for 3 nights for work close by. Clean, comfortable rooms. Very nice food in the restaurant but note that it closes at 8pm. There literally is nowhere else for miles so might have been nice if they were open a bit later. Food and drink are very expensive compared to UK prices but that is across Norway. We didn’t have breakfast as we were at work before it started. (9am) Really struggled to find anywhere to eat breakfast and lunch anywhere so lived on snickers and Mars bars in the day and ate at the restaurant in the evening. Maybe the motel could offer packed lunches? If they do, it wasn’t advertised but to be fair we didn’t ask. Friendly, helpful staff and beautiful surroundings. Drove about two hours from the airport near Oslo and it was a really easy drive although the Norway speed limits are very slow and there are cameras everywhere. Would stay there again.

Storestølen Fjellhotell (build in 1956) is beautifully situated in the heart of Skarvheimen. We are open all year and you find us right on the spot where east meets west, 3,5 hours by car from both Oslo and Bergen on FV 50 between Hol and Aurland. Are you going to Aurland or Flam, this is the perfect location to get the real mountain experience. Situated on 1013 MSL, Storestølen Fjellhotell provides spectacular views, excellent hiking and ski touring opportunities and wounderful local food. It takes only 69 min. by car to Flam by a scenic road which provides spectacular views of Aurlandsdalen and the fjords. Our rooms and apartments are spacious, modern and provide great comfort. The guest quaters are only a few years old and have bathrooms in all rooms, a separate seating area as well as a flat schreen TV. Our guests tell us that they love the location, the very nice rooms and the wounderful food served with Norwegian hospitality. Since June 2016, with new owners, Storestølen has made a shift towards a stronger focus on the importance of natural food. We serve Organic Wines and local food made at the spot!
The room was nice with two single beds for us two single ladies. Dogs are welcome but we paid a hefty 440 extra kroner for “extra cleaning”. The “dog rooms” are on the ground floor, with easy access directly to the outside. It is a long distance to any other place to eat, and when we booked, they asked if we wanted dinner. And what a dinner! 3 courses home made fantastic food, most of it from locally grown produce and meat. There is no menu, as they have one dinner each day - at least when we were there. A fantastic soup with home grown sprouts, spelsau lamb (spelsau is a hardy Norwegian breed of sheep) with baked potato and garlic sauce for the potato, and root veggies compote, good sauce and lingonberries, plus very good ice cream for dessert. It has been a long time since I had a better meal!Breakfast the next morning was whatever we had ordered the night before, and at the time we wanted. Due to COVID there was no buffet, but the amount of food, including home bakes warm bread, was fine. Breakfast is included, while the dinner was extra. The owner was the chef, waitress and receptionist, and she was very friendly, knowledgeable, and sweet. There were few guests while we were there, as it was before summer holiday. I highly recommend this place to stay and have dinner!

We stayed at this hotel for one night, on our way from Oslo to Bergen. The staff was very friendly and were able to accommodate our late check-in. They were able to provide a baby cot for my younger child which was greatly appreciated! It was easy to park our car just next to the hotel. The breakfast was very nice, with many options: delicious homemade bread, fresh fruit and many others treats!

When you arrive at Storaas Sisters hotel the first thing you see is the crocodile above the reception - this crocodile just happens to be the very same that ate the sisters’ great great grandfather’s dog when he was doing plantation work in Malaysia. This vivacious man had 8 daughters, by 3 different women, from 3 different continents at the beginning of the 1900’s! Thus begin the stories behind the hotel. The idea behind the hotel is that every hotel room, dining room and common area should have their own design and interior, each based upon one of the unique stories from the Storaas family. Today we’re half way there; 27 of our rooms now have their own individual design. We have the leopard room (the man who shot the crocodile didn’t have a cat as a pet, he had a leopard), the Heyerdahl room (one of the sister’s ancestors is the world-renowned Thor Heyerdahl). The remaining rooms reflect stories from great grandmothers who danced around Europe and never saved a penny, war heroes, Sound of Music inspired tales and a grandfather who saved defect dynamite from the factory where he worked to create some extra fireworks for the National Day. Visit the Storaas Sisters hotel and we’ll tell you a good story. Norwegian wood is what you see, global is the Storaas tree…
I had a day trip for yje Jazz festival. The hotel is located in forest and about 20min drive from city center and they arrange taxi/drive back and forth. The room and breakfast are good and staff are also very kind. The hotel is from a family farm and you can find a lot of old pictures and hostorical atmosphere.

TUSEN TAKK
