Reviewed By DaveScanlonI booked Balamaga for my wife to stay as a single traveler. The whole experience was most professional, the driver was on time, the guest house staff were most welcoming and made her breakfast professionally so she should travel on-ways. I was very impressed with the communication from this accommodation and along with the beautiful surroundings, comfortable room , my wife felt safe and enjoyed her stay. Thank you for looking after her.

Better than expected
Reviewed By tayrichoInitially I wanted to give only one star due to outdated room facility (it's probably top 5 in Bukoba but not in Tanzania.) and lack of power sockets (only 2 in the room and one of them doesn't work) and sometimes blackout occurred (2 times when I was staying there but luckily they have back up generators). Although meals there is great! (However it took them forever to make them. Curry related meals are awesome! You should definitely try them when you're there!) Despite all those flaws, the reason I'm giving this hotel 4 stars is that staff here is actually really nice! They made me feel like I was home! They greet you with a genuine smile and really trying their best to help you when you have troubles. I really miss those staff there because you can't get anywhere in those more developed cities.

It's not far from the airport and Christine the owner speaks English and Swahili. She helped us with transport, finding good places to eat and when my husband had to go to the hospital. I have a soft spot for Christine's dog Mila

Reviewed By Tinarizzo21I only discovered this hotel after some time in Bukoba unfortunatly. The staff is wonderful. I loved their beautiful garden. Great just sitting outside enjoying the plants and flowrrs. Quiet at night. Not to far from the beach. Great breakfast ( Tanzanian breakfast soup) and tasty dinners. Several beverages in fridge. And always hot water for showering. A great place to stay in Bukoba!

Reviewed By Eddie OI had three nights here. As far as African hotels go this is great. My room was huge with a separate sleeping and lounge. The bathroom. Was good. Not five star western but 5 star African. The restaurant was great. Ate there each night. Nightclub across the road noisy on Saturday night but apart from that no complaints.

Het heeft de luxe van een warme douche, heerlijke bedden en een fantastische gemeenschappelijke woonruimte waar je een goed boek kunt lezen, muziek kunt luisteren of vanaf de veranda kunt genieten van het mooie uitzicht over de bananenplantages. Het Guesthouse wordt gerund door de Theresian Sisters; fantastisch lieve nonnen die jou het verblijf gemakkelijk maken. Sister Johannes zal voor jou het (taditioneel Tanzaniaans) eten klaarmaken en ook met je mee-eten als je dat wilt. Je kunt er heerlijk wandelen, Silvery kan je rondleiden naar grotten of andere kleine dorpjes. Een unieke ervaring! Mugana Guesthouse is gebouwd door Stichting Wakk. De opbrengst van het Guesthouse is geheel voor de Theresian Sisters en daardoor stimuleer je met jou verblijf in het Guesthouse de locale bevolking. TIP: bezoek ook de andere projecten van Wakk: Ziekenhuis, School, Weduwe vrouwen, Bomenplantage. Tot slot nog de routebeschrijving: De route vanaf Bukoba is richting Mutukula (grens Oeganda) Na 15 km neem je de afslag Mugana hospital(staat aangegeven) . Bij Gera steek je de swampen over ( er ligt nu een goede weg) en rechtdoor naar Mugana hospital. Tussen het ziekenhuis en Mugana convent (Theresian sisters) ligt het Mugana Guesthouse. Wij hebben ook goede contacten voor mensen die aankomen op vliegveld Entebbe. Er staan mensen klaar die de gasten van het vliegveld halen en in een hotel onderbrengen. De volgende dag staat er een taxi klaar die ze voor 200 dollar naar Mugana brengt. Dus heel geschikt voor de ouderen.

The trees on the beach give a natural aroma of nature best suited to your relaxation. The rooms at our hotel are in good condition with cable TV, refrigeration and well spaced.
Boring food, great view
Reviewed By OthilieHaaberWe ate here for lunch, and while we enjoyed to be sitting on the beach overlooking the lake - the food was nothing special. We did not want to eat anymore local food, so we tried their pizzas. I am sure they cook good regular food, but their pizzas I can definitely not recommend. Furthermore there was slow service, but that is common for most restaurant in Tanzania. If you go here, go for drinks and the view.

Reviewed By 288husseinjIt took us a couple of hours searching for hotels in Bukoba and we came to a conclusion to stay here. The hotel rooms need an upgrade. Rooms are small, but not bad. Bathroom is in good condition. Breakfast needs more attention. Nice views from the swimming pool area. Had a good stay.

Reviewed By Bharatlal75Hotel is OK to manage a night. Restaurant staff take a lot of time make 1 dish. The BF had only bread and tea. The hotel management needs work on the improvement of the restaurant and services. The placer and location is close to airport.
