I stayed here four days in February 2020 and found it a very good place. Clean, quiet, pleasant room, good charcuterie breakfast and pleasant staff. The location is not quite central but it’s within walking distance of the city centre, the bus station and the citadel. There’s a cafe next door, a grocery story next to that, and other shops and services (including a laundry) on the same street. You have to see the citadel—there’s a residential neighbourhood inside the castle walls and you can walk along the walls for a great view of the city and the countryside.

The rate quality/price is very good. It is. located in the surroundings of Bragança, an important place in the history of the independence of Portugal. The room is very comfortable for 3 persons: it is big and it has all you need to stay some nights. The bathroom is very nice. Also in the price is included the breakfast, a buffet, which is very good. The room has a little terrace. On the other hand, the hotel is far from the center and it is a bit old.

Miguel Torga, a proeminent portuguese poet/writer, talked about his beloved Trás-os-Montes in “Um Reino Maravilhoso” (“A Marvellous Kingdom”). The Northeast of Portugal is indeed marvellous, especially due to the unique magic and energy it has… The kind and generous people, the neverending beauty and peace of the landscapes, all the amazing things you can feel and taste sitting on a table to eat and drink, … Try all this at Bragança! And get well rested in this place, at Gimonde: it’s the perfect place to do it with so many astonishing things to experience!

He has a restaurant in the hotel where we had the best meal in our 17 days in Portugal .I HAD THE BEST STEAK IN MY LIFE - POSTA as they call it. The prices of both the hotel and the restaurant are more than reasonable.

This hotel is in an ugly neighborhood rather far from the town centre, but that isn’t the real problem with it. From our arrival the staff were very unfriendly, the manager made no effort to speak any language other than Portuguese when we checked in but he apparently suddenly learned to speak English when he rudely refused to even let us use a table to play a board game (apparently we were going to make it dirty). The rooms are old and there are way too many insects (not mosquitoes or anything dangerous, but it isn’t pleasing to see spiders, trilobites and cockroaches crawling around). The breakfast is really bad, very little choice and no warm options.

The hotel was an absolute delight. Beautiful "formal" dining room with excellent food - including different fresh breads every morning. Very comfortable lounge/TV/common area. Our host Anabela couldn't have been more hospitable and welcoming - and spoke perfect English. And her aunt Mariana ... simply lovely people who couldn't do enough for their guests. Can't recommend this hotel highly enough. The hotel itself is worth the drive to Montesinho on the twisty mountain roads. Truly one of the highlights of our two months of touring in Europe.

The Old Bridge Mill is a new building, made from the original foundations of the water mill that once grinded the grain to the city of Bragança and the surrounding area. Sound of the Sabor River stream to pass straight ahead The house and the chirping of the birds to play by the imposing Amieiros near the river, make this hotel a very pleasant place. Be sure to visit!
We booked this hotel for 2 nights but couldn't actually get to it on our Motorcycles! The hotel is tucked down near a river & to access it you need to travel about 250 Meters down a loose thickly graveled road, then a further 400m or so down a very steep gravelled narrow driveway followed by a 360 degree hairpin!! I was leading & committed myself to the driveway before realising just how bad it was. With no way to turn around I had to go to the bottom but really struggled to get back up without dropping the bike. My Wifes bike just buried its front wheel in the gravel & refused to budge any further, badly scaring her. To add to this there was no one there when we arrived despite them being aware of our arrival time. We rang several times & waited about an hour in the blazing sunshine before someone eventually rang us back. The woman on the phone spoke only basic English but admitted the drive was 'dangerous' ! I wish they'd advertised this fact on their website. The only accommodation we could get at this late stage was an Ibis in the town so overall it was a massive let down.
