Home to some of the most significant historical sites of the 20th century, Berlin is a bustling international destination. A large city, many of Berlin's neighborhoods were in fact once independent towns. They were cobbled together to form the "Great Berlin" in 1920, and their town centers still reveal elements of this era. Today, nothing is more important to a Berliner than his or her "Kiez" (neighborhood) and the "Kiezleben" (life in the neighborhood). From the loud, wild, artsy, and young streets of Neukolln to the family-friendly avenues of Prenzlauer Berg to the quiet and sophisticated corners of Charlottenburg, Berlin's neighborhoods have something for everyone.

Our hotel is located in the heart of Berlin. Colourful, feisty and yet quiet, this is the CALMA Berlin Mitte! If you are coming to the CALMA Berlin Mitte, a relaxed team, a warm ambience and a quiet Berlin inner courtyard await you. That keeps the lively Berlin outside if you want to sleep, or can be your gateway to the pulsating lifestyle of the city, if you want to discover our beloved capital! Here you are absolutely central and experience Berlin from its pulsating side. There are lots of bars and restaurants and the culture comes not up short. Apropos different: With us since July 2017, everything is a bit different. A bit fresher. A bit newer. We dared to make a little use of a special colour and adapted our concept a bit, so it is now even more cosy and warmer, looks now more individual and fresher. 46 non-smoking rooms, each of which is a bit different thanks to the old Berlin period property charm and each of the 4 categories (whether CALMA XS, S, M or L) offers the right one.
This is more a service apartments than hotel. The positive is the location and the rooms that are very clean and big, but it is not recommended for a short or business trip. Cakna is superb for long stay you feel home more than hotel room. The main issue was the key, you need a working smart phone if the battery is dead you are doomed to wonder around Berlin locking for a charger . They have 24 hours help desk that is helpful but unfortunately you need address them quit often. I arrived at night and joined others so I could leave my stuff in other room while my problem resolved but my friends were stuck outside the hotel in pouring rain the night before. It is a pity as they could gain 4 stars only if they did simple changes such as leave in each room key card that you can take after you self check in. Please note that the front desk is close after normal working hours so if you have problem upon late night arrival they will solve it but it takes some time. The hotel is superb for long stay but you may consider better option for short stays. Breakfast is fair but considering the options central Berlin has to offer if it is not business trip one can consider better options around you. The price was a little bit higher for what you get I paid 150 E per night I guess that 80 to 100 is more replicative of the price. To conclude, it could have been easy for me to rate 4 stars only if the key issues were resolved.

I'm a bit late rating this property . . . . the location cannot have been better for me as a woman traveling alone. This is a very quite area in the middle of a busy city; I felt 100% safe. Catching public transport was easy - VERY easy - and Museum Island and other attractions (DDR museum, Berliner Dome, Alexander Platz) were close. Wifi was tricky - sometimes I had to connect in the hallway then return to my room. Note that the hotel is not staffed at all times. I would definitely return to this hotel.

An optimal connection of the apartment hotel to public transport and walking distance to a variety of different shops, you will have a comfortable stay in the apartment house Goodman's Living.
I would have given this apartment a 5 star. But two subsequent things occurred which suggest a zero - The reception was giving me a bit of Berlin Schnarzer, when I requested to leave some luggage. Contained within the luggage under multiple layers of clothing was a uranium glass vase, probably 100 years old - they broke it! What took humanity took 1000s of years to discover, some one to make a 100 years ago and someone to care for, for a hundred years - they broke in a split second of bad ass attitude - They cancelled a future booking - Suggest some customer service upskiling is required

We stayed two nights at this cosy place. It feels familiar and a bit like home. No problem with charing bathroom with the other guests. It is situated in lovely Prenzlauer Berg on a really calm street. We had breakfast at a bakery at end of the street. A few minutes walk to public transports. A walk away to lovely Kastanienallee.

Lovely charming hostel in a multicultural surrounding! I was amazed when I discovered my cosy room with some steps ups, really nice to sleep there although it's 35°C outside (plus bed sooooo comfortable), plenty of books and queer touristic paths guides you can borrow... Even can borrow an umbrella ;). The hostess is super friendly and gives the best tips for the surroundings, nice breakfast. OK, the toilet and shower have to be shared, but there were just around the corner, shower room so big and bright, actually much bigger than in some "classical" hotels, very clean - I guess all the guests traveling here share values of courtesy and open-mindness. Summary: best place ever! I know what I'll book for my next trip in Berlin -by the way, calling directly. THANK YOU!

I have had the worst experience for any hotel that I have travelled and I have travelled extensively throughout the world! Booked a Junior Suite at the hotel paying USD 400 a night. Upon arriving I was given a room on the 5th floor and they informed that the lift is out of service! I’ve had to carry my suitcase up 5 floors. They should have clearly informed me that the lift is out of order and your room is on the 5th floor, I could have definitely stayed at another hotel or alternatively the hotel could have put me up in another hotel. Furthermore, I arrived late at the hotel tired from my meetings and wanted to order water, the receptionist did not pick up the phone and they expect me to walk down 5 floors and up again for drinking water! Definitely a no go!!

The level and detail of communications with reference to Corona Restriction and requirements at the Hotel is misleading and also outdated. At no point prior to our arrival was I informed that my 10 year old daughter who could not be vaccinated yet, required daily negative test to stay at the hotel . I offered a personal rapid test at reception so we can at least check in and I would provide a follow up test from an official test location yet was told this is not acceptable as it had to be a daily PCR test. Not only was the staff misinformed, but also extremely rude and defensive. I was told in no uncertain terms that this was all my fault and that I was "stupid" not to familiarize myself with the hotel requirements that were send to me. It turned out that a rapid test (the same type we carried for personal testing) from an official test location was acceptable after all. I did receive an automated Corona information link a day before my arrival. After going through three further sub-links you land at the Corona Verordung of the State of Berlin were one can read about the test requirements after making it through several levels of legal text. Ultimately the hotel staff refused to check us in forcing me to seek a test facility for my daughter. While I understand that there are restrictions that must be complied with the way the hotel communicated them and the staff at B&B Charlottenburg enforced them are totally unacceptable.

I booked this hotel through Booking.com and had to cancel a few weeks before my visit. Unfortunately, I had mistakingly booked a non refundable booking. While this was entirely my fault, on the rare occassions when this has happened before the hotel has always shown some flexibilty in their policy as it costs them almost nothing to cancel a booking. This hotel showed zero flexibility and was quite happy to pocket the 196 euros for the booking, despite the several weeks notice. That is their legal right to do but morally and, given the circumstances, it would have been completely within their gift to have offered a partial refund, the option of a new date or some other form of olive branch. Instead, they sent a brief reply saying it's your problem.
