We stayed for a week, mainly in the hopes of my daughter picking up some German. The hotel rooms are fine for what you pay, and clean, although downstairs in the main hall, especially after breakfast, it could smell a bit weird. Towels don't smell nice either. The cottage houses look very dark, so I'm happy we stayed in the hotel instead. Car parking for a small additional amount per day at the hotel was great. The main building is clean and bright, and the pool is nice for an hour or two a day. The main reason why I give two stars are the poor parrots in the small cage in the main building. Very animal unfriendly, and those parrots scream really loudly throughout the day. Their screamy noise is terrible, and I feel very bad for the poor parrots; they are clearly not happy. The kid entertainment wannabe workshops are great, my daughter loved them. The other entertainment like the disco and bingo lacked energy. We expected more entertainment for kids (everyday, which was not the case), and with more variety and enthusiasm. The entertainer was really friendly, but I expected multiple entertainers and more interaction with the kids. The activities schedule in the app did not always match the actual schedule, and one of the wannabe workshops was cancelled due to insufficient materials. So overall the entertainment program was a bit of a disappointment, although the staff was really nice. Food was what you can expect for a budget hotel/resort. None of the restaurants had great quality food, but we we're happy with the vegetarian/vegan variety/options. Waiting lines can be crazy at the restaurants though, and especially at the bakery. My daughter loved the stay, I wouldn't book again though.

Big comfortable rooms although a bit outdated in style but the hotel is going through renovation so it's okay. Friendly staff especially the black dude in reception, he gives out really good and welcoming energy. The food is not always the best but sometimes it's actually really good especially around dinner time, (make more of the chocolate moose and ditch the banana? Moose...it tastes like meh... All the booze you can drink for free and you're allowed to take it to your room, that's a win for me. We'll probably come back sometime because there's so much more to see around there, magical valley. Give the black guy a raise.

My father and I were looking for a night's accommodation the night before the German Motogp at Sachsenring. We wanted a place close enough to the circuit and at a reasonable price. None of the reviews were in English so took a chance here. Upon arrival no one spoke English (or very little)but went out of their way to help to the point where the lovely lady rang her partner who could speak english to help check in. The room was on the top floor and very spacious (triple room). The bathroom was also very clean. The night we stayed was rather cool so had a comfortable night's sleep. If the weather was warmer not sure how it would be as there is no airconditioning or fans. Breakfast the next morning was very nice with a good selection to choose from. I was very impressed with this hotel and would recommend. Thanks to the staff for their patience and help during our stay.

fabulous houses in a well manacured setting. spacious rooms and great bathrooms. accommodation also has small terrace, lounge with tv and small kitchen area plus dining room table. it is set amongst the vineyards and an easy walk down to the Moselle where you can catch a boat. it's great value for money as all inclusive which also includes 2 full day trips and 2 half days. There is entertainment plus eurotrash disco (which is fun)! Also there is more oompah oompah type stuff quite often in another area. staff are very helpful and there is a wide range of buffet style food on offer. you won't go hungry with 3 full meals a day if you eat that much!! swimming pool is a very good size, bikes to hire, table tennis, crazy golf and boules, all free apart from bikes. We love it!

Wunderland Kalkar - enjoying and experiencing without limits Wunderland Kalkar is the perfect all-in-destination lying at the lower Rhine. It offers many possibilities to young and older guests as it is a big hotel-, business- and leisure-park. Stay a week, an weekend or just one day. It pays! Kids till the age of 12 have fun in Kernie's familypark. Here they can use many different fairground rides and eat as many French fries and ice cream as they want to. There are special themenights and events every month. Have fun in 7 different bars in Kernie's barstreet and discover our special delicious restaurants: the buffet-restaurant and the A-la-carte-Restaurant. Do not hesitate and book a large room for your conference group. We are able to give place to 6-400 persons in 20 compartments. Its is also very comfortable sleeping in one of Wunderland Kalkar's 435 beds. Our highlight: your pay an all-including price for staying here (sleeping, eating, drinking). Ask for our scope of services.
Rooms (in former office buildings of the atomic plant that never went online) look like at a youth hostel, evening buffet and underground "pub lane" mean. Breakfast quite ok on the other hand. But hey: it costs almost nothing, so who can you blame for?

So if you are in 3 h driving distance it is ok. It has lots of bobby cars for the kids to play at the inner courts and a sand pit. So you can have a coffee and fruit and relax. Our kids enjoyed it. I missed a parasol at the sand pit on sunny days. Service was quite nice and very helpful. We booked a family room and it was ok in size and comfort, but cleanliness wasn't their main issue. The ceiling and room corners had some mosquito remaining and spider webs...the chair had dust on it....I'm very picky...I know. But a hotel room should be very clean! We never felt as foreign in any country as at this place. No one talked to us, even though we stayed 4 days and kids played together. The cook was the only one who would chatted with you maybe the most interesting person of the place? He was very friendly, international and made us feel comfortable. He was also the pirate, most of the kids adored the song, sung by the whole kitchen before lunch with all the guest. The food was good, but sometimes it was even nicer and healthier to eat from the staffs menu than the one offered for the guest. Lots of meat and not really healthy food for kids, but that is also the german cuisine. The restaurant room we were sitting in was't 4 Stars, but I guess it was for the families with small children. Definitely the restaurant staff needs a properly trained and educated supervisor, so the rest will function right. We have never seen so much personal doing nothing....or serving you wrong...or not at all. The area where the hotel is placed is wonderful and invites you to discover nature. For the kids they have horses, donkeys, ponies, rabbits and goats. Thee swimming pool that is 2 km away is nice, but seems to be cleaned once a week or less. What makes you want to leave as soon as you notice that. The childcare staff is good. Just on one occasion we got there, and 5 of them were having a chat and said to me: "oh yeah leave the kids...." Unfortunately my kids won't stay at a new place if you don't entertain them.

Good Family Hotel in the Black Forest. The hotel is in a very small village in the Black Forest. A lake just across the road where we walked by on our relaxed days. Our day trips were all around 60 mins away by car (a car here really is a must if you want to explore). We explored Baden Baden, Schloss Hohenzollern. Freudenstadt is not far away and we visited an indoor pool here. Hotel is well maintained and clean, staff are for the most part friendly. Food is very good, but very German! A lot of heavy meals of creamy dishes, but the salad buffet before dinner makes up for that. Breakfast was all great and kids loved the pancakes. We had a connecting room which was more than enough for our family of 5. The pool was small but looked good - we never used it. The outdoor play area for the kids was used a lot and the kids loved to jump on the trampoline. Our kids visited the Kids club on a couple of evenings and very much enjoyed it. The staff very friendly.
