NorCal Escape Co. was the first to bring the real-life escape room genre to the greater Sacramento-Valley region, with the opening of CONDEMNED in August of 2015. Now with a brand new headquarters, we are expanding...new rooms, new themes, new puzzles! Check our website for room specifics.
My wife and I had so much fun finding the treasure on Fox Tail Saloon! We'll be back for Condemned!!

This is a small retail store with all their olive oils and balsamic vinegars out for tasting. Visitors are encouraged to try all the samples. They also have jams available for tasting. It's a nice little shop with a good variety of gifts. It's a little off the beaten path but well worth the extra minutes to stop in and taste the goodness. The employees were extremely helpful and very pleasant.

Easy level trail, mostly paved... Walking on the paved surface that was the old train track easement was nice, birds, farmlands and other things of interest kept us happily engaged the whole way out to Sutter and back.
I will be going out again this fall when the temps are lower.

The Sutter Buttes are eroded volcanic lava domes which rise to just over 2,100 feet. If you are into photography you can get some gorgeous pictures especially early morning or at sunset. They offer walking tours/hikes most of the year and cover history, vegetation, geology, and the like.

I only walked the outside, it appears they have let it return to nature. It was deserted. Also, the back is almost crammed up against a dike, which makes it feel claustrophobic. Also, it's at the end of the main drag in Marysville- but 50% or more of downtown is closed up and boarded, so there's no reason to go there, seriously. It's clear that the Wal-Mart a mile away caused most of the town to close up shop. A sad place. Other than that, a sign said that private tours of the temple can be arranged, but the area depressed me.

The Community Memorial Museum of Sutter County shares local stories to strengthen community bonds, to inspire celebration of our diverse cultural heritage, and to demonstrate how understanding the past prepares us for the future. We are a small history museum, featuring permanent and temporary exhibits related to the Yuba-Sutter region. We also have a small gift shop!
I was surprised at how much history is packed into this local museum. Tons of local history, artifacts and some really great displays. Go see this for yourself, it's free, very interesting, and I guarantee you will learn something new about the area and people.

Certainly not See's Candy but not bad. We had the almond clusters in the dark and milk chocolate. Very good. They also have some nice gift choices at very reasonable prices. We were a little underwhelmed because of the previous glowing reviews...but the chocolates are o.k.

Finally got to hike in Sutter Buttes this weekend, it was very good. Took me 2 years to get a spot on a hike with Middle Mountain, the company that offers guided walks inside the buttes on private lands. Their hikes are popular, so you have to know your schedule and book way in advance, and they will cancel hikes that don't have sufficient sign ups so that can be a factor too. But I would definitely recommend them as a resources to get to see the interior of Sutter Buttes, you don't have a choice so it is what it is as they say.
Sutter Buttes is almost all private land. You can drive around the buttes on county roads, but to get to the interior you must have permission. Middle Mountain has a relationship with several of the property owners, to run nature and education walks on their land. The views are lovely, both the pastoral interior meadows and valleys, and from the top of the surrounding countryside.
I recommend late spring, for good weather, little mud, and lots of wildflowers. The hikes are well managed, you walk in spurts then stop and talk about what you are seeing. I could have done with more walk, and less talk, especially non-nature related chat. (A lot of the people knew each other, including the guide, and they talked about things that had nothing to do with the outing, like their jobs and children. I could see several guests feeling left out and looking a bit lost and wanting to move on but having to wait on the chatters.)
Also, the hike was shorter than advertised, but it was very affordable as guided walks go, so I was satisfied with what we got. Besides, it was really wet and muddy, and about to start raining, so an early finish was OK with me.

This is a beautiful man-made lake in downtown Marysville. Great to walk around, although you need to be careful when walking dogs - there are quite a few birds hanging around the waters edge. Blows my mind to hear about the cars that end up in this lake; if you're new to the area, make sure you STOP at that light or you're going under!
