We have been to Crane Creek on several occasions. We have never been disappointed. The view from outside the wine tasting area is picture postcard perfect. I'm always amazed at the beautiful scenery. Darby and David in the tasting room are two of best in the business. Every time we are in North Georgia we stop by and always leave with smiles on our faces. Do not miss the opportunity to visit Crane Creek. You will love it!

This place is a great experience for lots of folk art classes. I took metal smithing. It was great with a very knowledgeable instructor and assistant. The setting is gorgeous with housing and classrooms sprinkled throughout the woods and fields. It was very quiet and blissful. If you wanted light entertainment there were dances and various musical events. I will be going back for sure.

This review is based upon my trip in early June. Please be sure to check out my video of this location on YouTube at Josh the Travel Guy. You can find it there!

Brasstown Bald is an amazing location. The views from the top are wonderful. The weather would be a big factor in the enjoyment of this place. The day I went was very warm with little cloud cover. When I left, it started to cool off and get cloudy and became cold and uncomfortable.

You'll need a decent car to climb up the mountain. It is very steep. Once you get to the top, you will pay $5 to park and gain admission to the park. Here, you have the option of hiking to the top, or take a free shuttle to the top. We took the shuttle. They provided information on the way up about the mountain and the area. It was very informative.

The visitor center at the top was great. You could learn about the mountain and what life was like in the area, listen to animatronics, and play mini games. We also went to the theater and watched a video (I think it was 15-20 minutes) about the different seasons on the mountain. It was very informative.

The views were amazing. You can see 360 degrees from the top. It is the highest point in the state after all.

We recently enjoyed a weekend at the Ritz Carlton Reynolds Plantation with our children and grandchildren, both teens and young children. We rented the pontoon boat with the water slide and found several quiet coves that we put into to frolic in the water. With several adults in the water as catchers even the youngest got to join in the fun as Grandpa captained the boat.

The next day we rented a ski boat and captain Patrick to take us and the teenagers out to go tubing. With a busy holiday weekend with lots of traffic on choppy water, we felt that the money we spent to hire YHWS staff member Patrick to take us out was the best money we'd ever spent! He knew just where to go on the lake, was ever mindful of our safety, and gave our teens a terrific experience riding the wakes!

The boats and all equipment were new and in excellent shape, the staff were very personable and made sure that we had a great experience!

We visited this park three times on our week long vacation. We all loved it. The children enjoyed the creek and playgrounds. The adults loved the swings alongside the creek for viewing and the natural views and sounds. There are benches, swings, and picnic areas thru-out the park. People of all ages were enjoying their time there. We brought snacks and drinks each time and sat under the shelters available to eat and relax. The playgrounds are divided by age with fences and gates. The swing play area is fenced and they had a handicapped swing area separated as well. Bathrooms are located on the walkway behind the play areas up by the ball field on the outside of a building. The women's bathroom had a baby changing station. We recommend this park to everyone. No entrance fee. Visit, relax, and enjoy!

Rollins Planetarium

We visited the planetarium last night for a showing of "Solar Quest" and "Aurora Storm" and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. The beautiful state-of-the-art facility provided comfortable reclined seating, remarkable visuals and terrific sound during both short presentations. Between the two presentations, Dr. Morgan provided live commentary on the night sky visible from North Georgia along with constellation identification. Be forewarned, the planetarium holds 104 people; we got there 20 minutes early and there were very few seats left, so arrive early. The audience was mostly families with kids but there were several adult couples like us. The reasonable ticket price ($5 for adults, $3 for children) combined with the quality of the presentations make this a must see for visitors to the north Georgia Mountains.

This is a great opportunity to see some very unique animals. I originally became aware of Destiny Alpacas at a winery Crushfest where the owners had a booth. They had brought 2 of the alpacas and also some of the beautiful yarn and hats/scarves. If you are knit or crochet, you will be amazed at the beauty and color of the fibers (which is actually hair) from the fleece of these animals. It made me want to see where they live. So, we contacted the new owners and came by on a Sunday afternoon. (Follow the directions on the website and NOT your GPS or you'll be driving through a pasture.) They were friendly and welcoming and it was so wonderful to interact with the alpacas. They are funny creatures, each with their own personality. It is also an interesting business. Call first but stop by....enjoy the animals and also pick up some "goodies" from the gift shop. (Try the drier balls....they're wonderful!)
