This is a beautifully kept grand older home, one of the first in this city. They have tours in the summer and open house during the Christmas season. It takes at least an hour to tour but you'll probably want to spend more time as there is so much to see & learn.

This was our first visit to the Lewis and Clark Recreational Area and it will definitely not be the last! This is a huge campground extending along the shore of Lewis and Clark Lake (Missouri River) with multiple sections and extremely well maintained, featuring spacious wooded sites. We had a small camper-trailer, but there are spaces that will facilitate almost any RV as well as nice grassy areas for tenting (something we're sensitive to because we were tenters until this year!) The slots/spaces are not at all tight and most are in wooded areas that afford good shade with nice views of the lake. The lakeshore was less than 100 yards from our camp site. We had difficulty locating a water hydrant to fill up our camper when we arrived. We assumed there would be some throughout the campground, but in retrospect we should have filled up at the dump station at the park entrance. The restroom facilities are immaculate - as good as any campground and better than the vast majority. The layout of the showers in our men's restroom (Gavin's section) was a bit odd, with access to the second shower through the dressing of the first one. (That apparently was not the case in the women's shower according to my wife.) The water could have been a bit hotter, but maybe our timing was bad. We took advantage of the excellent paved bike path network to ride down to the marina, the dam, and the very impressive (and free!) aquarium at the fish hatchery. We rode by several very nice, sandy beaches in the campground, as well as playground areas. This Recreational Area and the campground are very impressive and a gem of the South Dakota state park system. And worth noting, the staff members with whom we had contact were all great: professional, personable, and courteous.

We watched the fireworks after the concert, they were amazing. The area was set up with food trucks etc, it was fun. At one point we walked the bridge to the Nebraska side and back. Talked to one of the workers who was a long time resident and he shared his story about growing up near the bridge and how they used to jump from it. I can't imagine! Very enjoyable evening.
