Absolutely brilliant tour. Greg has put in thousands of hours of time researching the history of gold mining at Yackandandah and followed the path of some of the most notable characters during the town's 30 year long gold rush. He's personally qualified in several government regulated industries solely to be able to share his passion for this fascinating historic period and bought a gold mine! You couldn't wish for more detail or knowledge on a subject and I can't recommend this tour highly enough, next time we're close to Yackandandah we'll certainly attend the your again.

While travelling in the area and visiting attractions in the area, we stopped at the visitor centre from some help. The lady was new, and did not know a couple of things, but went out of her way to find the answers and educate herself for future visitors, very well done and helpful, would recommend this centre and town to visit to anyone travelling near this area, the history is amazing, and the people are too. Thank you Yackandandah hope to visit again soon.

A local history collection, with Yackandandah Stories, objects, photographs and documents, changing displays, publications and a research facility operated by our researchers. Housed in two historic buildings, - an 1860 Bank of Victoria, and a slab and shingle 1857 Manager's cottage. A large stored collection is separately housed.
We were passing through Yackandandah and stopped for a bite to eat then wandered through the main street and discovered this lovely museum. Entry is by donation and it's run by informative and enthusiastic volunteers. Well worth looking through the old Bank of Victoria building and Manager's cottage out the back. Provides an interesting insight to the history of the area. Yackandandah is a lovely little town not far from the much busier Beechworth.

Yack Station contains 14 individual art/craft studios with shared workshop and Gallery areas. The rail heritage of the Yackandandah Station is located in an original Guard's van. The warehouse type building , which was built in 2013/2014 ,is constructed from recycled and re-purposed materials on an industrial scale. This includes internal oregon wall cladding from the old Albury Silos and glass doors and windows from The Strand Arcade in Melbourne. A separate fine art gallery houses locally made woodwork and glasswork as well as some indigenous giftware and jewellery from regionally based artists.
Interesting just for its architectural details, this is a very cool in-progress facility and hub for area artists and crafts people. Items for sales are quite reasonably priced. It will only get better with time. Well worth the very short ride from the main strip in Yackandandah!
