This park was quite a letdown. Nothing there but scrap metal on poles. Daytime is abysmal, nighttime a tad better, but the lighting required to view the colorful reflectors just wasn't there.
What a waste of money! Purchasing the windmills, moving them into town from their original location, placing them in a high-crime downtown area...all a sad attempt to revitalize a dead downtown area.

Not that Wilson is urban, but this small park and lake on the north side is rarely crowded, easy parking and walking trails. A nice dock for kayaks, ample fishing, dog walking, frisbee golf, or just a walk around the lake. A very pleasant, easy way to leave the job behind for a little while.

The gardens appear to be in the early stages of development. They have room to grow and might be very nice someday. They have a good start and are enlarging. There is fair amount for children to see and do. I would not go far out of my way to visit yet.

Barton College (previously Atlantic Christian) is a small college with an excellent reputation for the quality of its education. It offers a nursing program not surpassed by any other. It's appeal is its size - not student gets "lost in the shuffle". The faculty student ratio is great and the campus small enough to involve every student in activities.

Good place to see a movie. This is a typical newer style multiple theater location. Not usually crowded, so you can get tickets and food quick, plus plenty of seats are open. Seats are comfortable enough. Security makes routine checks so you feel safe.

Happened upon this because it faces the awesome (currently being installed) Wilson Whirligig Park. Very tasty ISPA (IPA with local sweet potatoes) and a nice small (lower alcohol) ale. Lemon ginger ale available for kids and a very limited food menu. Friendly staff and a nice old room to hang out it. They also have lots of bar games around, don't know when they bring those out.

Children do not get bored in this museum. There are many interactive areas in this museum. There is a part that teaches about weather in a very kid friendly way. Children can roam through this museum without getting lost. There is a snack bar that does include lunch items.

The North Carolina Baseball Museum contains memorabilia from ball players that are native North Carolinians. There are seven Hall of Fame inductees in Cooperstown from North Carolina, including Jim "Catfish" Hunter, Gaylor Perry and Enos Slaughter. The museum is located inside Fleming Stadium and it is loaded with wonderful treasures - signed baseballs, bats, baseball cards, news articles, pennants, etc. The fee for the museum is very modest (most expensive ticket was $3). We were lucky to have Eddie Boykin as the museum volunteer that day and he had wonderful stories to tell about the items in the museum and how the museum came to be. The museum also has some displays about famous ballplayers that played at Fleming Stadium, including Rod Carew and Ted Williams. You won't be disappointed in stopping by the North Carolina Baseball Museum!

The garden is supposed to be run by volunteers who remove the spent roses. It didn't look like that had been done in a while. They have over 100 varieties of roses from historic old garden roses to new hybrids. It's on a noisy road and that takes away from the experience.
