I cannot praise Huxlelys enough! Lived in Horsham over 25 years and had never been?! We got there in time for the first meet an owl session, had a wander round to see the birds, went for lunch in the garden centre, then back for the second meet an owl and the flying display. The team are wonderful, welcoming and very humorous! We so lucky to be able to take part in the display and fly some of the birds. For a relatively inexpensive day out compared to many days out for 7 of us it was an experience we won’t forget!

Arundel Castle and Gardens open from 5th August 2020. Open Tuesdays to Sundays inclusive and August bank holiday Monday. Arundel Castle, home of the Duke of Norfolk, reflecting nearly 1,000 years of history, and commanding the surrounding landscape with magnificent views across the South Downs and River Arun. Fine furniture and works of art in sumptuously furnished rooms. Ancient Motte & Keep. Spectacular gardens. 14th century Fitzalan Chapel. Collection of arms & armour. Personal possessions of Mary Queen of Scots. Pre-booked tickets only.
From the moment we walked up the drive and saw the beautiful and striking Arundel castle home to the Duke of Norfolk it was simply just breathtaking, and inside was stunning, the library took my breath away. The most amazing castle I have ever visited. The gardens are beautiful with so many beautiful features, with the beautiful Arundel Cathedral as a back drop. Would most definitely return and highly recommend a visit

Took my daughter here at half term and she had a great time making a pottery lamp, making bread trying Roman food. The people working here are engaging and knowledgable and really help bring it to life.

We stayed at Sumners Ponds in-between lockdowns .Everything was very efficiently organized with clear instructions for everyone's safety and the highest of cleanliness standards. We have stayed on several occasions previously and have always found the staff extremely helpful and friendly. They provided information about the locality and restaurants as well as the site itself. The on site cafe is super with plenty of outside space. The campsite is lovely - spacious, quiet and clean. There is always plenty to see in and around the lakes and the pub and village shop are a short walk away.We keep on returning!!

We visited whilst staying at the butlins next door, perfect place to come and chill with the family, big park with plenty to do for the kids and a reasonably priced miniature railway for the whole family to enjoy!

Well worth a visit to see all those windows along the centre of the wooden walk and to have a coffee in the southern pavilion which is a wonderful venue for weddings etc. My grandchildren love the amusement arcade to spend some coins on the many machines and then to sit on the many seats available all along the pier with an ice cream and watch the anglers.

West Wittering is a beautiful beach, perfect for taking dogs for a walk, or meeting friends for a BBQ in the evening with the most stunning sunsets. Being a local the only times I see the beach are in the evening, when all the visitors have left and it is calm and peaceful. Being a local means dealing with the summer madness, the village turns into a rugby scrum to buy a pint of milk, seeing people in various states of undress and shouting and screaming to their friends. But being local means accepting this as of course we live in such a beautiful area. I can deal with the amount of traffic on our roads, planning ahead and either staying out for the entire day (just so I don’t have to queue to get home) or staying at home all day so I don’t have to see how bad the queues are this year. The one thing about being a local I don’t like...is taking a nice evening stroll down the beach and seeing the amount of rubbish left behind by the visitors to our lovely beach. Bags of rubbish, folding seats, BBQ’s, tents, plastic netting off of a football. I hear so many people saying we need to do more for our planet, don’t use single use plastic. But then so many thousands of people are too lazy to pick up their rubbish and take it with them. Bins are provided but after a bank holiday they will be full to the brim, but is it too much to ask you to take it home? All this rubbish will end up in the sea, this will travel around the sea and end up tangled in an innocent animals neck. Why in this day and age, when we are all aware of plastics and the damage they cause are so many people leaving their rubbish behind. It is a totally upsetting scene. So visitors to our lovely beach, before you start moaning about the time it takes to get here and leave (it’s a sunny bank holiday and there is one road in and one road out) take a minute, check where you have been sitting and ensure not only do you collect your personal belongings but you take your rubbish. Don’t leave it for someone else to do, it’s your responsibility.

In 2019, Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens opened its doors after a closure of 10 years, this magnificent Grade 1 listed garden was nearly lost forever and has been the subject of the largest garden restoration in England and possibly Europe. These spectacular and ancient gardens are now open for the public to enjoy once again. Many people in the local area have fond memories of their visits and life around these gardens, and we aim to protect this magnificent heritage so that future generations get to enjoy these beautiful green spaces and flora and fauna within.
The most beautiful setting with unbelievable autumn colours Quiet and peaceful no crowds and no coach parties This gardens needs to be seen to be believed Graham gave us a free Tuk tuk ride round the grounds and we hopped off near the deer park Every turn was more magnificent than the last I am sure every season at Leonardslee is spectacular but in my eyes autumn can’t be beaten.
