Welcome to The Malling Jug. Situated in the centre of the historic and picturesque town of West Malling, in the heart of Kent, we are the town's first and only community micropub. We serve real ales (straight from the barrel), a wide selection of bottled craft beers, cider and wine, alongside a limited selection of high quality traditional pub snacks. The vast majority of our products are sourced locally.
It's so lovely to find a hidden gem of a place in a busy town like West Malling, especially if you appreciate cask ales, world beers, good wine and inexpensive food! I can't recommend this lovely little bar highly enough, it's a bit difficult to find at first as it's tucked down a little side street opposite the junction with Swan Street! But once you've found it you will be smitten! It's waitress service, so no queue at the bar, you just find a comfy spot and choose your favourite drink or try a 'bat', that's 3 x 1/3rd of a pint (great idea for the indecisive!). The food was great too, very simple but inexpensive I had the cheese board, but there's traditional pork pie or Scotch Egg too! Great range of cask ales and sure to appeal to just about everyone!

Lovely lake, meadows, a play park and a cafe here. There is a lakeside trail to walk around and paths to follow in the meadows. Very nearby to the edge of the park is Leonard’s Tower which is free to look around the outside of it although you can’t go up it without an appointment. It is a small country park (about 40 acres) so you don’t need longer than an hour and a half at most to walk around it all. Lots of picnic tables and benches dotted around if you want a rest or a picnic. A very pleasant park. I did see a rat by the lake but it didn’t put me off being here. It is a lovely place.

My wife and I visited Coldrum Long Barrow after Kit's Coty House and Little Kit's Coty near Aylesford. The first two megaliths were difficult to find but Coldrum Long barrow provided us with a real challenge. Full marks to the National Trust for having a ten space car park and directional signs along the ten minute walk to the long barrow - and full marks to our SATNAV for getting us to the car park.in the first place! This is an incredibly beautiful area of Kent countryside, with narrow winding roads, many single track lanes, and pretty little villages - yet not far from the motorways that cut through Kent on their way to the larger towns. Incredibly, right bang in the middle is an ancient megalith, with upright and fallen stones, cascading on two levels, and originally built a thousand years before Stonehenge. Can such a survivor be given anything but a five star rating? I think not!

A very pleasant experience in these challenging times. We were greeted at the door and shown to our table. We ordered and paid via the app and found this to be simple and straightforward task, service was prompt and the food was good. The staff were friendly and efficient, whilst adhering to Covid safe practices. We will certainly visit again and would happily recommend others to visit.
