A must-do visit if ever there was one. A tangible insight into the potential for man's inhumanity to man. The water torture cells were somehow the worst of it, but what jars is the fact that the building is in a city centre street which passers-by must have walked alongside while the unfortunates inside were enduring their nightmares. It helps give you an understanding of the very public way Lithuanians express their religious devotion - to get through the Soviet occupation and the Gestapo interlude must have required an extraordinary faith in the possibility of a better life. This is education in its rawest form and not to be missed

This place is temporarily closed .
From the top there’s a nice view of the City. We took the funicular to the top, but you can reach it by walking as well.

We went into the entrance off the street and walked up the stairs, not realizing what we would see. We entered a small room where the picture is and quite a number of people were on their knees praying to the Blessed Virgin. It is something to see it from the street, but do go inside to get the full experience.

The exterior of this church stands out for its architecture. Reminiscent of Italianate design, Sts Peter and Paul has high towers, is sandy yellow and is trimmed in white; while maroon tile roofing completes the picture. As striking as its exterior is, it's the interior that grabbed my attention. This church is gleaming white inside; there is stucco and marble everywhere you look. Sculptures, paintings, and frescoes adorn the 13 chapels, high ceilings, nave and altar area. Pretty overwhelming.

There is a long history of this hill, as crosses changed many times....it is situated at a nice park and the main benefit going there is the great panoramic view of Vilnius old town. Spectacular!

Trakai Castle and Museum is without doubt one of the best castles I have ever visited and was well worth travelling there from Vilnius on a day trip. The castle is so incredibly pretty and scenic. There is is a lot to see and do at the castle,if you explore it fully you are looking at circa 2-3 hours of sightseeing to cover it all.Unfortunately,my girlfriend was keen to do this on a fast track,so I didn't get to cover this in the detail that I wanted to. The castle has regal interiors, artwork opulent furniture, lots of weaponry and armour, historical information and interesting displays.I took plenty of pictures, whilst sightseeing the castle.Ticket entry is 8 Euros, they try to charge you extra for a photo permit, which I never got. This permit Is not enforced,so don't waste your money getting one. You can take some amazing pictures of the pretty castle in the background as you explore the area around the castle before the bridge. You can also take a 30 minute boat tour of Lake Galva,before/after your visit to the castle. You can get to Trakai by bus from Vilnius bus station or by train.Either way will still leave you with a significant walk.We caught the bus on the way down and enjoyed a leisurely walk down there. There are a couple of churches you can visit on the way down,a smaller history museum and a I love Trakai sign/monument not to be missed as a photo taking opportunity:)On the return leg we caught the train, which is much less congested than the buses, but more infrequent and a bit further out than the bus station. Trakai Castle does get exceptionally busy,so I would recommend getting there early to beat some of the crowds.

St Anne's Church is a 15th century, Gothic red brick (numerous colors and style of red brick) church that is quite small and sits in front of the much bigger Bernadine Church in similar red brick. This is a must see in Vilnius.

It’s fascinating. It’s fun. It’s sure to be surprising. Welcome to historical premises full of riveting illusions, wonderful atmosphere, and helpful staff.
Vilnius is a great city , enjoying a long weekend, while writing that I must share with you a unique experience... The illusion museum, the illusion demonstrations are fun, interesting and well orchestrated, but... It's not the most important... The museum has a tradition to welcome visitors with "private" guides that takes you through the exhibits, explaining, demonstrating and questioning ???? I was extremely lucky to be guided by Justina, a charming young lady, knowledgeable, fluid in English and super fun???? she turned my visit from a classic museum visit into an unique/fun experience, thanks you Justina

Užupis, self-declared as a separate republic, is a quaint and Bohemian area with architectural beauty, boutique shops, restaurants and bars. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and well worth a wander around whilst visiting Lithuania’s capital.
