Great place to get your sunrise pictures and not crowded. There are no 'services' on this beach (that I saw) from our hotel's access point (Hampton Inn & Suites-Vilano Beach). There are some nice shells, and they get larger the further north you walk.

We visited on March 28th as part of visit to St Augustine.
It was an easy walk from the downtown shopping district.
It was a fun tour and our guide was very informative about the area and distillery process and quite humorous. We also got to sample various products that are made there including award winning products before being escorted to the store where we sampled a few more award winning products before being encouraged to purchase their products. I must note that there was no pressure to purchase.

Flagler College

Flagler College's historic campus is located just four miles from the Atlantic Ocean in the heart of St. Augustine, Fla., the “nation’s oldest city.”The college is named for Henry Morrison Flagler, a Gilded Age industrialist, railroad pioneer and partner with John D. Rockefeller in Standard Oil. In 1888, Flagler built the Hotel Ponce de Leon, his first in a series of luxury resorts along Florida’s east coast. A masterpiece of Spanish Renaissance architecture and the first major poured-in-place concrete building in the United States is now known as Ponce de Leon Hall. This National Historic Landmark serves as the centerpiece for the Flagler College. The grand hotel launched the careers of young architects John Carrere and Thomas Hastings who are noted most for the New York Public Library and the House and Senate Office Buildings adjacent to the Capitol in Washington, D.C.The Edison Electric Company powered the building with steam heat and 4,000 electric lights, making the Ponce one of the nation’s first electrified buildings. Louis Comfort Tiffany is credited with the building’s interior design including the stained glass and mosaics. Murals were completed by George Willoughby Maynard and Virgilio Tojetti. The hotel was gifted to Flagler College when the institution was founded in 1968. Since then, the college has spent more than $43 million dollars restoring the historic campus and adding new buildings.

Memorial Presbyterian Church

Located in historic St. Augustine, Florida, Memorial Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). We are not just any church. We are Florida's first Presbyterian congregation, established in 1824. CNN has named us one of the eight religious wonders in the United States. The present sanctuary was given by Henry Morrison Flagler and dedicated in 1890 as a memorial to his daughter Jenny Louise Benedict who died from complications from childbirth. Mr. Flagler, his first wife, Mary, daughter Jenny Louise and granddaughter, Marjorie, are entombed in the Flagler family mausoleum at Memorial. The church is open for visitors Monday-Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Enjoy a tour of the church by one of our trained docents during the week and then return on Sunday to join us in worship. Our visitors come from across the state, the nation, and the world.

Henry Flagler built this church in memory of his daughter and granddaughter, and it is obvious he loved them both very much. Every detail of this church is beautiful, from the imposing dome above the church to the quiet reverence inside. Knowledgeable docents tell the history and answer any questions visitors may have. The stained glass windows with the Apostles' Creed on them eloquently show Henry Flagler's deep faith and ecumenical spirit, and a peace and profound reverence permeate the understated beauty.

My wife and I felt that the price of admission was a little higher than it should have been, but the story of the lighthouse and some of the history within the museum were pretty interesting. The guided tour was good, but it started to drag on a bit so we had to move on. The highlight is certainly the view from the top of the lighthouse. With 219 steps its a nice little workout if you go straight up.
