Hiking trails, duck marshes, comfort stations, overlook, identified trees and picnic facilities.
I run trails on a regular basis and McDonough is a local favorite close to Parkersburg, Vienna, and Belpre. The main loop is approximately 2.1 miles and is easy to moderate difficulty. If you do all the trails available you can cover between 5 & 6 miles. Most are moderate in difficulty. The trails are scenic and there are sitting areas/benches on the main trail to sit and rest or enjoy the scenery. There is also a paved walking track and requires 3 loops to complete a mile. Bathrooms are available as well as picnic shelters that must be reserved before use. They even heat the restrooms in the colder months. Very nice touch and greatly appreciated. The Vienna Parks maintain the park and do an outstanding job keeping the trails clear. I was there on March 12, 2019 and they were removing some leaves on a trail so the trail could dry after numerous days of rain. Please know that this is a hiking trail and can be muddy so wear appropriate footwear. Great local spot. Enjoy
