First thing upon entering Brummer's was the wonderful aroma of sugar & chocolate! We were really surprised by the variety and how great everything looked. Since we were on our way to lunch, we decided to return afterward and really, really look at everything. So....... after lunch, Brummer's it was! The gorgeous candies were priced at $19.99 per pound -- not a bad price at all. We ended up buying about a pound & a half. You can pick & choose from the case and I ended up getting at least one of everything that sounded yummy to me. They have a huge assortment of cream centers and most were in dark or milk chocolate. I think fudge was priced at about $13 per pound -- not a big fudge fan, so didn't try. But the candies are excellent and have a really, really good flavor. (I think they are actually better than Malley's in Cleveland.) There is also a big assortment of taffy and penny candy. We get to the Lake Erie area about twice a year and you can bet that a side trip to Vermilion and Brummer's is in my future!

A number of bird species can be spied among the shale cliffs of the Mill Hollow-Bacon Woods Memorial Park.
I am a little biased towards this particular metropark, since I proposed to my wife there. There's nice light hiking, good picnic areas, and lots of windy river that you can play in or hunt crayfish.

Paper Moon was the second stop on a winery tour I took last weekend. The only choice I had for wines was sweet or dry. When we arrived, the wines were already poured and waiting for our group. One in the glass and the other four in plastic cups. We also received a cheese and cracker plate.
I prefer choosing which wines I would like to try. My cousin had the dry and I had sweet so we were able to try each. I thought the plastic cups were a bit tacky.

This is a small clean beach with a little beach house that sells snacks and has a beach wheelchair for those that need it. The group of volunteers that runs the snack shack are locals that can direct you to the many attractions around Vermilion. They are friendly and inviting. Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach. It's right next to the Vermilion Lighthouse and restaurants are very close. The public restroom is also very close to the beach. Great sunsets!

We had a great family trip for a couple of hours while in Vermilion. Vito and the team are terrific, a really great operation. Reservations were easy and our kayaks and guide were all set when we got there. Equipment is well-maintained, and the instruction is great. The river was peaceful and interesting, and the boats and homes were fun to see in the direction of the lake.

We love Sherod Park. There are walking trails that wind through the grassy park, a stream running through the center, exercise stations, picnic pavilions, baseball & soccar fields. Best of all, benches along the lakefront, situated perfectly for watching sunsets.

I stumbled across this narrated boat tour going through Vermilion and my mom reminiscing about the old McGarvey's restaurant on Memorial Day. The tour included three tour guides: two very nice ladies and one of them being "Bailey" the tour dog. We sailed around the lagoon since the water level was high and had a view of the black and white gorgeous homes. We ended the tour with a spin on Lake Erie to view the immaculate beach. The tour boat holds 23 people, reservations recommended, and is $12.00 a person. A must see tour attraction when you are visiting Vermilion! The tour lasts approximately an hour. Please use 600 Sandusky Street rather than 636 Sandusky Street on your GPS for proper directions. Hungry? You can enjoy wings and a beverage at what is now Quaker Steak and Lube overlooking the marina. This tour made it a lovely Memorial Day weekend!

This church is set in a quaint tourist town with a wonderful pastor and friendly congregation. They have an outdoor 'prayer path' in a beautiful wooded area behind the church. Loved the park benches and spiritual markings throughout. Great place to worship and enjoy nature.

My daughter and I had a wonderful time visiting this shop. We got a cheery welcome from the owner who told us all about the shop and the many items for sale. Several brands of wonderful smelling candles are carried and of course we came home with several. Cute gifts, jewelry, and homemade wreaths are some of the other items for sale. I am so glad we stopped in the check out this neat shop.
