Xecue Vinicola

Alberta and Jose Luis in 1999 began developing artisanal wine to taste at home, in the year 2005 they decided to make their first wine for sale, they wished they had the essence of sharing their profession and their journey through life. Jose Luis is in charge of the field, the operative part of the winery and make sure the vines give excellent results and to ensure that the parameters have been proposed as standard, while Alberta is the Winemaker of the winery, she is responsible for the management of winemaking processes and administration, both demonstrate their fellowship and giving in each of their bottles. Initially Jose Luis and Alberta chose the best plots and designed wines that would enter the market in 2006, the same year they began a new adventure: the construction of the winery, which has been opened since the summer of 2012 to the public for tasting and sales. In Xecue Winery our products are made with care, each wine has its own personality, range of wines are balanced by subtle feminine and masculine character sets, these particular traits are expressed on the label.

We were recommended a wine from Xecue at a restaurant the night before and loved it! We decided to visit the winery the next day and it is in a beautiful location. As we were having our wine the owner approached us and asked if we wanted to tour the winery! Awesome experience and excellent wines! Totally recommended when you come to Valle de Guadalupe.

We were extremely happy with the tour by Ensenada ShoreX dot com from Ensenada to Monte Xanic Bodega Vinicola. Alfonso our guide & driver (it was a jeep tour) ensured the staff at the Monte Xanic Winery gave us a wonderful tasting. Rosalina did a great job presenting various award winning wines to our small group at the inside tasting bar. After the private tasting Rosalina kindly gave us an escorted tour through the wineries various processing and storing areas. The Mexican wines were good and the tour experience (including jeep trip to the Monte Xanic Bodega Vinicola) was excellent. Highly recommend trying a different countries wine at this lovely vineyard.

Beautiful views, and free tour, that it was great one, private one, for the two of us, very knowledgeable young man. Also very unusual way of making wine, all by gravity, the winemaker is all about gravity. Worth seeing.. The place was a little bit cold when we were there, and even though they have fire pits, we were cold, so take an extra coat. They offer food, what it is nice while you drink their wine, but they have to improve the food. It was too greasy, and heavy. Wines were good and the tour wonderful. Our hotel, valle de terra recommended this winery, 100% grateful for telling us about it.

Finca La Carrodilla

Second generation winery of the Ejido El Porvenir in the Valle de Guadalupe. It started as a dream of the Pérez Castro family (owners of La Lomita) to honor the Virgin of the Vineyards. It is the wine venture with the first certified organic vineyard in Mexico. La Carrodilla proposes a new way of making wine, through organic farming and biodynamic practices; a proposal for agricultural sustainability. We intend to open doors for sustainable agriculture, where care for the environment and respect for the same govern the way of making wine, adding to these different elements such as neatness, selection and meticulous care in the winemaking process. This and many more elements, result, almost inevitably in quality wine.

This was the first of the 2 wineries of our Carnival Cruise Excursion. It started with a scenic bus ride to the lovely Valle de Guadalupe. Our tour guide, Irma, was very informative with the history of Mexico and the wineries of Ensenada. Once we got to the winery we were showed every step of how the wine is made , from getting it off of the trucks, to the aging process, and everything in between. The guide at the winery was very thorough and knowledgeable. He even showed us the "proper" way to hold a wine glass and how to get the most out of a tasting. At the end of the tour we were treated with some delicious homemade sweet breads, meats and cheeses to go with our tastings. We had time to make purchases at the gift shop before heading back on the bus, where we were given a free bottle of wine to take back to the ship with us. We partied on the bus the entire way back. It was quite a good time!

Baron Balche

Reviewed By Guillermos99 - Alexandria, United States

As in previous postings, I shared a similar in yelp but for the non-yelpers, here are my two cents... I think my review is going to be long... but Baron Balche deserves a lot more! Wine and wine tours are not just to taste, I know people that pay, briefly enjoy the wines and want to do the next stop... or are so deep in their own that wish full attention. For me, BB was a spiritual experience, it's the sum of my humble knowledge, the vast experience of Mario (winery tour guide), the environment and that click that happens... just happens, and for our group that click with our host was powerful, full of great, really great detailed explanations and examples of culture, Mayan knowledge, and wines. Mario, the host, the day, the amount of time he spent, his strong knowledge, was perfect, thank you, Mario! Our group was small, (2 :-) and sometimes three when our tour of the region driver joined us) the time Mario spent was ample and his deep mystical knowledge of the Mayans and easy going about each wine was perfect. I don't know which tour we had, I also know that during the busiest days people have to wait to do the tour, but if you go, just relax and enjoy the visit, it's worth it. We have to understand that if there is a larger group waiting... they have to accommodate, otherwise, I am sure they will gladly spend as much time as possible to transfer their knowledge to us, the visitors, their clients. About wines... All wines we tasted were superior, better than many wines we have tasted in more structured wine regions of the world... but that special touch of wines from the Baron Balche collection is unique. I don't enjoy white wines as much as my companion, I love reds. She tasted both (I was a bit sick :-( ) but I enjoyed the fragrance, the body, the rich flavors and those gorgeous aromas of all the tasted wines. No matter how sick I was, the uplifting of BB wines was uncommon. As I shared, I was a bit sick; so, we didn't have the opportunity to stay and eat something... I bet their kitchen is great. Their production is limited, it's a petite winery, it's not for the masses, but the quality is there, just for you... take my advise and visit BB.
