Went with my family to see a coffee plantation. After getting lost on a mountain we almost gave up. Do Not use GPS only. Stick to PR 111. The Morales family are a treasure. These people have owned & worked the plantation for 48 year. So knowledgeable. Mr. Morales has a degree in agronomy. Told us how all the plantations suffered after hurricane Maria and are rebuilding. Told us how they plant, process the beans, roast and harvest. Mrs. Morales made wonderful coffee and served us cake. We could have stayed for many hours just to listen to them. They are wonderful hosts. Call ahead. So happy we went. The scenery in the area is amazing!

My young (9yo) daughter and I took the river cave kayak tour with AJ. I can’t say enough about how great of a tour guide he is. AJ is incredibly knowledgeable about the area and cares very much about your enjoyment of the tour. The tour consisted of a trail hike, a suspension bridge crossing, a short kayak trip, a river trek (including floating/swimming in the deeper parts), more hiking, and a climb on ‘natural’ steps up against a waterfall. The kayaking was in very calm water through the dark cave. We were provided with head lamps to help illuminate that part of the tour. The hike was challenging with the changes in elevation, but well paced for those less experienced. My daughter kept up with no issue. I recommend good hiking sandals instead of shoes or boots, since the river trek is very wet. A dry bag for phones or cameras would also be beneficial— we were very fortunate that AJ offered to carry our water-sensitive items while we were crossing the river. We felt our safety was the #1 priority. Helmets and life jackets were provided and worn for the entire trip. Some portions of the hike were slippery with the prior day’s rain (and our wet shoes!) but AJ did a wonderful job pointing out the difficult spots and helping us get through safely. I highly recommend the tour, and I recommend Batey. We attempted some schedule juggling before our visit and the woman who answered my phone calls (can’t recall her name, sorry) was incredibly helpful.

Lake Dos Bocas is an artificial lake that was created on 1942 as a hydroelectric power plant and works as a water reserve. The lake features a creative culinary experience. It is located between the towns of Arecibo and Utuado. It also has five restaurants that you are taken to by boat. You can board the boat from a dock called El Embarcadero that departs every hour and makes stops at all of the restaurants. The boat ride takes about 30 minutes where you can enjoy nature, the beautiful lake and think about the delicious food you could indulge.
Absolutely stunning lake -in mountainous area between Utuado and Arecibo - we went in middle of week and only one other group at our public picnic area. Think the restaurants may start to open on weekends soon but we brought our own picnic and wore masks. Well worth the visit!

WOW! .... The 2020 pandemic opened my eyes to many different things about life and the world. I am grateful for my new appreciation of nature. There are many beautiful places in the world. It's great to get out and visit special places such as Cañon Blanco. Beautiful! Absolutely gorgeous! Just be careful when venturing through the canyon. I would not bring children here though but to each his own.
