Zootastic Park

A visit to Zootastic Park is a trip to the zoo that’s both fun and educational. It’s a perfect setting for a family fun day or for large groups, like school groups or summer camps. The park offers something exciting for the kid in all of us.

Oh what fun! Went there with friends for my birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We reserved at an earlier date and paid extra for experiences the lemurs and kinkajou, binturong, a baby kangaroo as well as the sloth and it was a wonderful experience. John was our zoo keeper and was very knowledgeable. It was costly, but worth it for the fun.

The Lazy 5 Ranch

Reviewed By Michael Y - Valdosta, Georgia

The Good: good family entertainment, fairly priced, friendly staff, a wide variety of animals to view, feed, and interact with.
Now the Bad and Ugly: This attraction is in terrible need of some tender loving care by the owners. I found the Lazy 5 Ranch to be dirty, trashy and in a state of disrepair. Animals and birds in confined areas either had identification placards missing or barely readable due to age and weather damage. There was trash in and around some of the exhibits along with dead and decaying cactuses and plants. Some exhibits were dirty with stagnated pools of slime green water. All the pathways are gravel and dirt. Wear old shoes! Not suitable for wheelchair access either. If you just want to be able to see and feed a few animals—OK, don’t expect much more. Otherwise , go to the zoo.

My husband and I stopped here out of curiosity. It was really a good and informative visit with the young man working there, dressed in period clothing and cooking. We saw the little garden, and also were informed that they would be building a replica of a building that once stood there. Very happy to say that work has started on the project!

We did the north section of the Lake shore trail (about 3 miles, loop). The trail is beautiful and well kept. Most of it is in the shade so this is a great trail for hot days. The trail is mostly wide with some uphill/downhill sections but nothing more than moderate difficulty. It took us about 2.5h with two small kids with several breaks. Be advised that there is no water available along the trail so bring enough with you.

Clean, friendly, relatively safe...
Prices are average considering what it provides.
However, understaffed, poorly managed....but management is over-tasked given the circumstances...so it's not management's fault.
Ticket machines always going xown...and staff are over-tasked and can'tfix machines...
Could be a lot better....but still enjoyable...FYI yhey only have two cashier stations and their process os too labor intensive. A customer should be entirely dealt with a touch screen system.

Long Island Paddle Sports

We are the premier rental outfitters for Lake Norman at the Catawba River (LKN @ Catawba River) for kayak and standup paddleboards (SUP). We have a large variety of single, double, and triple-seat kayaks for rent, as well as standup paddleboards that can support up to two adults.

I stopped at Long Island Paddlesports to ask about parking my vehicle there and paddling Lake Norman. Then Frank told me about Balls Creek, the falls, and Murray's Mill Historic Site. I had no idea they existed. He also offered other paddle site information and after talking with him I decided our Meetup Group just HAD to check these sites out. His Brother Adam helped our group out with rentals at a very reasonable price and had nice, stable, single kayaks, tandem Kayaks, and SUPs. After the paddle Adam suggested a local restaurant which was superb. I strongly recommend Long Island Paddlesports for a great day on the water. "The Rat"

Daveste' Vineyards

Daveste’ Vineyards is proud to be the first winery in Iredell County, North Carolina. We're conveniently located about 35 miles north of Charlotte, NC and near the intersection of I-40 and I-77. Our winery annually produces 1,000 cases of wine, including both dry and semi-sweet red and white wines. While offering some traditional favorites like Merlot and Chardonnay, wine lovers are enjoying our Chambourcin and Viognier. And some of our wines are further distinguished by being produced from varietals rarely grown in North Carolina, including Malbec and Rkatsiteli. Our rustic, timber frame-style tasting room is open year-round. Our tasting room also serves as an art gallery displaying artwork by local North Carolina artists who meet each week at the vineyard. We invite you to visit us soon to enjoy the company of good friends, friendly staff, fine art and, of course, quality wines.

Six acre corn maze on a family farm. Visitors can ride the cow train through the field, shoot the corn cannon, climb a corn mountain, play life-size corn checkers, enjoy homemade farmhouse treats at the concession stand, and take home flowers and pumpkins from the produce stand. I went here with my 74-year old mom and my 76-year old dad for my mom's birthday. We had fun wandering through the maze. The man in charge of the place and the corn maze staff were helpful and very friendly. Some of the areas weren't quite set up (fire pit) and ready on the day we went due to some staffing problems, but we still had a good time.
