A Hidden Gem of Cowboy Art! Arthur Roy Mitchell painted iconic western scenes featuring cowboys, horses, cattle and vast beautiful landscapes that captured the hearts and minds of pulp western readers from the 1930's to today. The largest collection of his work is proudly displayed at the A.R. Mitchell Museum of Western Art, in downtown Trinidad, Colorado. Plan a visit to view this beautiful collection and we hope you'll become a member and support our efforts to keep his art alive and on display for generations to come.
If you are fortunate enough to be in Trinidad when this museum is open, it is A MUST SEE!!! A.R. Mitchell gave his entire collection of his remaining art works to this museum in Trinidad!! While walking through the exhibits, I realized that I had seen some of his magazine covers but did not know that he had created them! His paintings of panoramic scenes in Colorado are spectacular!!! If a docent is available to share background information on Mitchell and his works, it will certainly enhance the visit!!!
