Tourrettes-sur-Loup is most definitely worth several hours of anyone visit to the French Riviera. We traveled from St Paul de Vence, it’s just an easy thirty minutes drive through lovely countryside. We parked in the village square along side the locals playing Boules. Which ever way you walk in the narrow meandering streets you will want to take artsy photos. Keep going down and you will find a viewpoint with views right across to The Mediterranean Sea.
There is a Michelin started restaurant on one of the winding streets but it was closed for the season when we visited, but I will be back someday soon to give it a try.
Highly recommended village.

Throughout the year and according to the seasons, Destination Nature provides great outdoor sporting activities as canyoning, hiking, caving, climbing, snowshoeing and airboard sledge. The Côte d’Azur is beautiful but there’s so much more to explore inland.Destination Nature’s mountain guides will lead you through unspoilt and beautiful natural sites.
We have gone canyoning with Richard and Denature for 4 years now and we love it every time. The kids in particular! And the 8 year olds seem braver than anyone else. It is well controlled, feels safe and Richard has good English so tells you stories from his childhood as well as introducing you to the local flora and fauna. Definitely recommended for kids from 8 years up - others can wait at the bottom of the canyon and swim etc in cool pools.

We stayed at a rented home in the area for two weeks, and decided to give FunTrips a try. We walked in and were met by friendly staff who explained the various trips through nearby river Canyons they offer. We chose the lowest level for our first experience, and are back the next morning (they were already booked at other times). We expected a "normal" experience but it was much, much more than that. First, we were given first rate protective suits, helmets, gloves, and special socks for our hiking shoes. Then a safety briefing. We were driven about 15 minutes to the river entry point, and from there on, pure adventure! We walked through water and on land, floated some, climbed over large rocks, slid down Waterfalls, slide through a neat hole, and jumped into the river from varying heights. It was an absolute blast. The owner went with us, explaining each obstacle in detail, insuring that everyone was prepared to enter the water or jump safely. Jumping was for the most part optional, especially the higher ones. My daughter and I couldn't believe the high quality of this excursion, which was reasonably priced. She came back the next day for a more advanced trip, and had (safe) thrill after thrill. If you are in relatively good physical shape and adventuresome, this is a MUST DO!

With guided tours in different languages, you will see how beautiful fruit candies, chocolates, innumerables jams and jellies from flowers and fruits grown in this sunny region of France are made in the most artisanal method from years gone by and the taste is so delicate. Historically Tourrettes was known as the 'ville des violettes', because it was an important centre of violet growing for the perfume industry in Grasse. This has now been much superseded by artificial substitutes, with very few natural growers remaining, so the Bastide serves as a permanent museum of old violet growing industry, including the tools and shows actual plants being cultivated in the traditional fashion. The normal end of the season is early March, when the whole village celebrates with a Fetes des Fleurs, with decorated floats and a flower fight to round off the afternoon's festivities.

Above the interesting township of Vence, resides Tourrettes -Sur- loup,a genuine mediaval hilltop town.Catch the "400"bus from Canes -sur-mer to Vence then transfer to the "500" for the scenic tour up to the village. There are turrents and many buildings seem suspended mid air. Its an exciting walk that circles the hilltop, into town. A tree lined square opens up to artisan shops and a host of restaurants offering good tucker. We choose the pub opposite the bus stop and enjoy a succulent rabbit and beer. Exploring is what this town is famous for. The town hall has art galleries and the winding alleys house a variety of artisan dens worthy of tourist dollars. There are superb views that sweep across the var to Nice and the sea. Visit the flower museum and consider spending a short holiday stay in summer or spring. Wheelchair access not easy.Charming part of the world
