This theater I would definitely recommend, but you have to speak Russian (probably not worth otherwise , unless you go with a small kid or you have a Russian friend to translate).
The theater is in a strange neighborhood, it is a lodge building, but , they have morning shows about 12pm-1pm.
But the play! - you have to see it, it was awesome !
Even inside it is magical: lots of puppets talking and moving (they are computer animated) and they play ... It is magical, look in Internet for "Tomsk 2ky" .

Only after 4 years spent in Tomsk I've visited this legendary place and was impressed by this gorgeous park. Now it is one of my favorite places and I highly recommend it to every visitor.
It looks like a part of forest with the huge war memorial. It is the traditional place of celebration the Victory Day (the anniversary of the end of the Great Patriotic War).
It is also a good place to have a stroll, to enjoy spectacular view of the river Tom.
The park is easily accessible - the nearest bus stop is called "Laguerniy Sad"

I walked from Kartashova street to the happy wolf, as the map shows. I found him sitting and watching everyone walking by. I'm sure funny for the children.
If you're sort of grown up, you should read the story, or watch the cartoon. Then you'll understand why he's sitting there with his belly full. Enjoy.

Met my friend Anton Tsjekhov where I expected to find him. Rub his nose, all the locals do it.
To find Mr Tsjekhov, go to Lenin Boulevard, find the river Ushayka, and where Ushayka meets Tom go to right and as close to Tom as you can. You'll find Tchekov.

Nothing very extraordinary. But probably one of the best place to visit in Tomsk. There is a small museum displaying the articles and dresses used by people in siberia. Also ancient model of tomsk city. The view from the top of the Observatory tower is nice.

The NKVD Memorial Museum shows an ugly part of Siberian history of political repression after the Great Russian Revolution. It tells many sad stories of people who fell victim to the regime. Both artifacts and texts are very interesting. Why then the low rating? It's basically Russian-only. I speak Russian and enjoyed it very much, but English translation of texts is lacking, so a foreign visitor would have had quite a lacking experience without the context.
The museum has convenient opening hours and a good location in the city centre.

Tomsk State University is the heart of the city. It is the place when you feel history of Siberia and its connection with the present and future.
The main building is a mastrepiece of the XIXth century, there are several small museums there.
The surrounding grove is lovely with its small paths, squirrels and fresh air in the city centre. There are several monuments in the grove, including memorial dedicated to the university students and staff killed in Great Patriotic War and a new monument marking the geographical centre of Eurasia (established in 2014). To my mind the best time to enjoy the grove are autumn and the end of May (when bird cherry trees are in blossom).
Fortunately anyone can now enter the grove and university buildings though there are plans to introduce new security systems so that only university students and staff could enter the buildings. So take advantage of the opportunity to visit the oldest university in Siberia while it is still open to the general public.
