Perhaps the most photgraphed spot on our trip to Tierra del Fuego - fortunate to have a sunny day, and nearly every step offered another amazing vista. Incredibly windy in December, so be prepared! Apparently, as one of the first reviewers of this beautiful place, Tripadvisor is not allowing the opportunity to post my many photographs...hope to be able to once they confirm this attraction.

I brought a couple of rocks home with me. Will I burn for this? Don't guess so. Hope not. I try to pick up one or two from really neat places. This was certainly one of them.

Mail sent from this Argentinian post office occupying a small structure on stilts above Ensenada Zaratiegui in Tierra del Fuego National Park travels around the globe.
Sitting on stilts above Ensenada Zaratiegui in Tierra del Fuego National Park is a corrugated structure that houses what may be the world's southernmost post office. When we were here, there was one Argentinian postal worker inside, absolutely swamped by tourists buying stamps and postcards to mail home. TIPS: * Credit cards not accepted. You need Argentinian pesos. Lots of disappointed tourists walked away empty-handed. No exceptions. * There are other knick-knack items for sale, not just stamps and postcards. * You'll likely be home before your postcards arrive! We sent greetings to our granddaughters in the U.S. It took four weeks for one postcard to reach Maryland, six weeks for the other to reach Virginia (perhaps because we didn't use the zip code). * Don't forget to take a photo of this isolated but beautiful setting to show to the folks back home who got your postcard from here. * Don't miss Senda Costera (Coastal Path), a beautiful hiking trail a short distance from the post office (see my review, "A walk on the wild side").

This walking path, slightly less than a mile, starts at Laguna Verde in Tierra del Fuego National Park and travels along the coasts of the Lapataia and Ovando rivers.
