Wolfburn is the northernmost whisky distillery in mainland Scotland. Building work commenced in 2012 and Wolfburn was reopened after some 150 years in early 2013. At Wolfburn we don’t have a visitors centre so when you visit you’ll see the inner workings of the distillery itself, where our master craftsmen make single malt whisky the way it should be made: with care and without haste. Tours finish with a tasting of our various malts, and there’s the opportunity to buy bottles and Wolfburn merchandise.
We had an excellent tour last week, and it was interesting to see all of the distillery processes taking place on a small scale in a single building, making it a tour with a difference. Charlie was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide and the tasting involved sampling lots of different cask types, so a driver is recommended. Very relaxed and unhurried, the shop is well stocked and appropriate Covid precautions are all in place.

Welcome to my jewellery and art studio in Thurso. My workbench is situated here and you can see me work on my creations Tuesday to Saturday. I graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with 1st class honours in jewellery and silversmithing. I offer beginner jewellery making workshops where you will learn real silversmithing techniques and at the end of the class take home your own piece of sterling silver jewellery that you have designed and made yourself. A perfect thing to do on a rainy day! Happy to take families (aged over 12, can be younger if an adult is present and they feel the child is capable) friends, couples or individuals looking to do something unique. My new premises in Brabster street is a wonderful place to visit, you will also be able to buy from a specially curated collection of local and scottish craft and ever changing artwork. My scratchboard artwork can be bought in a number of different products including prints, bags and mugs
I visited Lindsey's studio yesterday. It is absolutely beautiful- like a calm sanctuary- spacious and full of products by all sorts of local craftspeople. Her jewellery is beautiful, but I was also taken by her sketches and wirework. Stunning. I browsed for ages and felt under no pressure to rush- or indeed to even buy anything. This studio is really worth a visit if you want to treat yourself or just appreciate high- quality local crafts. This has been a highlight of my trip, so far. Thanks Lindsey.

The tunnel is operational throughout the year. We invite you to visit at any time for a look around, make yourself a cuppa in the summerhouse, or relax in the orchard. We tend to be here everyday, however all items are labelled & priced and have an Honesty Box - so we are SELF SERVICE & ALWAYS OPEN! Always in stock we have a good variety of hedging/windbreak suitable for wet, windy coastal areas, mixed edible hedging, along with a good selection of native & fruit trees. We welcome enquiries and are happy to quote for bare root large or small planting projects. Around March we have a fine selection of hardy shrubs, perennials, climbers, alpines, fruit bushes etc and by May/June bedding plants and vegetable plants become available - all affordably priced. Later in the season we offer our surplus of home produced toms, cucumbers, courgettes, soft fruit etc. We try to recycle as much as possible and welcome your donations of used plant pots, bedding trays etc, it all helps to keep prices LOW!
On a trip out we visited this out of the way garden centre. Lovely collection of plants, herbs, shrubs & all very well priced. Bought some hedging for our garden & will go back for more. Little hut/shed filled with local jams & small gifts. All done by honest boxes. Loved looking at the veg in the poly tunnel as it gave me ideas for ours.
