Wat Chiang Man

This is certainly a very beautiful temple with a lot of wall art inside the main building, and a magnificent statue of the seated ဗုဒ္ဓ at one end of the hall. Behind the main hall is a very well-preserved chedi with a lot of ช้าง/ဆင် symbolism.

For now I participated at one meditation circle and at one one of the DANCEmandala sessions. Both times there was immediately a quiet familiar atmosphere with the other participants, because the groups were small and everybody was very friendly. I loved the DANCEmandala. I did a few dance meditations before, but this one was definitely the best because the effects of feeling energized, grounded and relaxed at the same time are still lasting today (the next day). That may be because of the relaxed atmosphere we sat together at the end and talked about the experience helped to integrate it more profoundly or maybe because of the teacher who facilitated such a welcoming and safe space or both. I heard from the other participants that the yoga sessions in the mornings are usually also held in very small groups, which would be perfect for me, because as a beginner I would be happy to get as much attention and advice from the teacher as possible. I will definitely give them a try while in Chiang Mai.

Sunday Night Market

Reviewed By MarkSherouse - Knoxville, United States

We spent two months in southeast Asia recently and visited a number of night markets. This was probably the best, all told. Ver large, plenty of food, even some entertainment, clothing, souvenirs, etc., all of high quality. Interestingly, the market stretches down one of Chiang Mai's main streets, with some off-shoots, and so you also get interesting night-time views of some of the more important temples, buildings, etc. Great night market.
