At Deerhammer, our distilling is steeped in whiskey tradition, but our methods are infused with curiosity and creativity. From our cornerstone single malt to our forthcoming bourbon, rye and limited run single barrel spirits, we're redefining the flavor-and future-of independent American whiskey. Stop by for a whiskey tasting... craft cocktail... or a bite to eat from our new menu featuring some seriously highfalutin brats, all beef franks, chili, and more!
Whiskey fans, stop by the Deer Hammer for a stiff drink and a cozy quaint setting. If you don’t love Whiskey this is the place to change your mind! They have everything from whiskey flights and straight up pours to more fruity drinks like their Margarito or the Green Grind. Each cocktail is perfectly crafted by their friendly staff! Fair prices, and a great atmosphere that is dog friendly! In the summer they have an amazing outdoor patio with a food truck which makes for a lovely relaxing afternoon. The Deer Hammer really is a must see in downtown BV!

Monarch Mountain, located in South Central Colorado, is what you expect from a real Colorado ski area.Abundant natural snow (350+ inches) and friendly people are two of our strongest attributes. You can walk from your car right to the lifts, prices are reasonable, and the runs flow naturally back to the base area. At Monarch you’ll lose the crowds but not your friends. We have been improving the skiing and riding experience by adding backcountry terrain in Mirkwood Basin for the advanced and putting in two conveyor lifts for our less experienced guests. We are not about Real Estate developments and shopping villages at Monarch. You won’t find time share salesmen in the base area, but you will find friendly employees wanting to share our mountain with you. The only “bling-bling” you’ll see at Monarch is from beaming smiles.
I had not been skiing for 30 years and took private lessons with my teenage daughters. It was great. Rich was a top-notch instructor and very patient. I did a lot of research and the reviews are spot-on. This is a great place to avoid crowds and high prices.

Gorgeous hike along the Arkansas River! You can do a loop hike, as there are 2 foot/bike bridges that cross the river. There are a lot of gorgeous boulders all along the hike, both in the river and along the trail itself, especially on the 'upper' (east) side. If you have someone in your party who has issues scrambling up/down a boulder or 2 while hiking, the trail on the lower/west side of the river is a lot easier to hike. But if at all possible, you should do the entire loop. It's not that long, allow about an hour so you can stop to take pictures.

Jumpin' Good Goat Dairy is a small family goat dairy and creamery that proudly produces pure, all-natural small-batch artisan goat cheese. Located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains we do our very best to make sure our goats are happy and healthy, because the happier the goat, the tastier our cheese. Besides the dairy and creamery our farm houses our country store, here we invite visitors to sample not only our seasonal offerings of cheese but also other yummy goods produce right here in Chaffee County! Guests may also visit the store to sign up for one of our guided Farm and Milking tours. Offered year round our Farm tour is at 11:30am on Monday, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Our herd is seasonal so that means we only milk from early spring to late summer, therefore our Milking tours are only available from late March to late September at 2:00pm Monday, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Because we live in the unpredictable Rockies we will occasionally cancel tours due to inclement weather.
The woman who was in the store was charming. We bought multiple cheese and thought they were great...the tours weren’t open yet, but we would definitely taken one if they were.

One of the best scenic overlooks you'll ever see. It's amazing to stop here after climbing one of the 14ers as you can reference it's location on the map/sign at the overlook. Great perspective!

This beautiful , well maintained park is a joy. There is a nice walking path, places to fish, and it’s a great place to view the kayakers in the summer. There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Be sure to visit if you get to Salida.
