The largest desert in the world, extending between 800 and 1,200 miles and at least 3,000 miles from east to west, covers one-fourth the area of Africa including the lands of Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Tunisia and Egypt.
We took the road from Ouarzazate to Marrakesh and were blown away by the natural beauty of the area as we drove on narrow roads with many switchbacks, climbs and declines through The Draa River gorge that were cut into the earth years ago. The Draa Valley is home to Berber villages with its Kasbahs, sand dunes, and lush green plains. It begins its journey from the snow-capped Atlas Mountains and 1100 km. later drains into the Atlantic Ocean. It is Morocco’s largest river. Our trip took us through the high Atlas Mountains with its many deposits of copper, iron and other metals turning the mountainous soil into mounds of reds, greens, blacks and other earthen tone colors. The trip took us through Col du Tichka, Morocco's highest mountain pass at 7410 ft which lies above the Marrakesh plains and gateway to the Sahara Desert. The trip was spell-binding.

Merzouga is a small village in the southeast of Morocco and it is the last settlement in front of the boundless desert - the gate to the desert... Here people come from all over the world to see the real elements - a sea of bright orange sand, to ride a desert ship - camel and fall in love once and for all times in this oriental tale. We preferred to meet the dawn in the desert, but stopped to spend the night in a small town of pink color - Erfoud, where the locals kindly provided us with a roof with a mattress and pillows so we could get some sleep before we go to the desert. The brightest thing that is remembered in this area is the night sky. Illuminations of small towns cannot give so much light to cover the light of distant stars and so the sky in the desert is studded with diamonds and it is impossible to forget it... We did not fall asleep that night, admiring the light of the silver stars, we forgot about the time, and at 3.00 o'clock in the morning, it was time to move into the desert to see how the reddened sun rose from the sand dunes and changed the color of the endless desert from gray to bright orange.

All Tracks Adventures, Sahara ATV Quad Bike
My brother and I booked the trip via whatsapp, they gave us total flexibility in our activities and timetable, they came to pick us up even we arrived very early in the morning, the night in the camp was incredibly good and the food even better. We did a tour by 4x4 in the dunes, a little hikke to a beautiful mountain, quads (the best experience we’ve ever had) and other activities, we learned a lot about moroccan culture, food and music thanks to mohammed. In conclusion, if you want to visit the sahara desert we highly recommend this tour, he’s super nice, helpful and amazing driver????

if only more places lived up to their billing, as flint does, spectacular oasis set into rugged stoney landscape, plenty of bird life along the valley bottom, with the usual shepherds tending their flocks of sheep, goats and camels, walk up through the small fields and gardens, where the locals still tend to the corn, pomegranates, and dates. this is why we love Morocco....................(oh bye the way, we had no hassle and everyone we met was very friendly and welcoming)

Atlas mountains form a range extending over a good part of Morocco, reaching 4000 m and higher. Tizi-n-Tichka is one of the best known passes at the altitude of 2260 m. Before our trip I read about this road and I was a bit scared of the dangers lurking on travellers. The road was presented as a scary, winding path amongst precipices and hanging rocks. Well, it is nothing like that. It is a fairly good road, winding of course, and sometimes it is better not to look around too much, but all in all, it is not so bad and dangerous. The whole passage is very long, I would say about 100 km, but it takes a lot of time, because allmost the entire road is under reconstruction. In a couple of years crossing the Atlas mountains will be a piece of cake. The village at the top does not look like much, but you can buy a nice souvenir. If you like minerals, take some time and admire the vast choice. You can negotiate a good price. Descent towards the town of Ouarzazate is not extremely steep and you only have to be attentive because of road works.

I was there this week with my wife. The experience was fabulous, one of the best things wee have done in Morocco. First - the one bad review here is from someone who visited the sham shop next door that is trying to generate a carpet selling business by saying they are the old synagogue. Its disgusting. Apparently, this person had a bad experience with the carpet sellers, and posted here. It came up in our discussions while there, and I said I would write about this in my review, because the owner and tour guides do not write i English well enough to respond to this problem. This Place - The real deal. Just go. You will be amazed at the things there, and the knowledge of the guides. I loved every minute of my time there. When we finished they offered us mint tea on the roof. It was an unforgettable 2 hours. Bravo !!!!!
