The furnace of Cava Bomba, located at the foot of Monte Cinto, is one of the most important examples of industrial archeology at the regional level. The complex, as we see it today, is in fact, the result of technical and economic events that have taken place since the late nineteenth century to the present. It appears as a cluster of buildings, originally used as a stable for donkeys, housing for the workers, stores for lime and storage for coal, among which ovens for baking limestone that was transformed into quicklime or hydraulic. The mining and lime production plant of Cava Bomba continued until 1974 when, following the discovery of a major deposit of fossils in the quarry, it was decided the transformation into museum of geo-paleontology. The museum was opened to the public in 1987 and over the years has been enriched with new sections and pathways, including outside areas. Besides fact to the interior dedicated to geology and paleontology of the area of the Euganean Hills (fossil), the minerals and the historical collection of Count Nicholas of Rio, in the inner courtyard is exposed Giradi collection of instruments of labor in the quarry and the former quarry Limestone has been recently set up a geological trail that collects large rock samples of the Euganean Hills (trachyte, latite, calcite, rhyolite) and some models of life-size dinosaurs (Allosaurus, Apatosaurus, etc.)
