Janosikove Diery Gorge is one of the most beautiful hiking trails not only within National Park Mala Fatra, but the whole Slovakia and Central Europe. It is located in nature reservation Rozsutce and the valley river is forming numerous Waterfalls and rocky formations. The hiking in this valley is possible via imposant wooden Bridges and ladders.
Nice trip for whole family. Anybody from 3 till .., Just really not for very small kinds and elderly, handicaped - you have to climbed some large stones. Nice views from hills above the place. Facilities as parking, restaurants, bistro all there. Nature wonderful.

Vratna dolina "Vratna valley" (vratna means that you will come back) is located in national park Mala Fatra closed to village Terchova. Terchova is known with its folk Terchovska muzika ( from 2013 in UNESCO). There are a lot of opportunities for walking, hiking, cycling, relaxing, .... You can use Cableway on the top, from where is fantastic view. It is suitable for family with children, but also for more exating people. You can choose light walking or hard "expedition".

A great way to experience the natural environment of the Mala Fatras. Head up via Janosikove Diery for a dramatic climb through gorges and next to Waterfalls (there's an elevated walkway, don't worry about getting wet!) Views from the top were magnificent, to the north towards Poland and across the peaks to the south too.
Note; coming down the mountain on it's southern aspect is tricky, down rocks and stones very prone to slipping. Is very manageable if you take your time, but don't go rushing down. The slope is steep and drops either side at times severe. But as I say, to the sensible hiker there's no need to worry.

This monument is dedicated to Juraj Jánošík, Slovak highwayman. He was born in Terchova and has been the main character of Slovak and Polish legends. beautiful view from the top of the hill.

People say, Maly (small) Roszutec is nicer to climb, maybe more interesting as there is exposed short part secured by chains. I definitely recommend both hills. Small Roszutec looks like little rock from Big Roszutec :-) try both of them, it is possible within 1 day but challenging. In any case winter with snow or summer is good, just be careful of storms during summer.

The church, which is situated in the middle of Terchova village, was built the very next years after the second WW. So the building is pretty but not very interesting. On the other side, there are nice wooden pictures and sculptures inside. People in Terchova are very pious what also means they like to celebrate many religious holidays and weddings. So you can see folk music groups, folk costumed people and many more interesting things very often, espetially by this church.
The celebrations of St. Cyril and Methodius take 4 days in the beginning of July. For a foreigner it´s a grand spectacle.
And the surprice? In the entrance hall you can see an amazing handmade large wooden creche and for some change it plays and the figures are moving and parading folk crafts... Just lovely

My kids had a great time with skiing instructors from Sports Academy Vrátna.
Little one (3 years old) after 1 hour with instructor was able to ski by herself.
The older one (9) improved a lot. Thank you very much.
We also borrowed one ski set for a reasonable price.
