Beauty. Historic. Fun for all ages. Spectacular views. Camping. Picnics. Gift shop. Statue. Information. Lumberjack displays. Exercise. Hiking. Forest. River. Water. Not much more one could ask for. It's a wonderful stop and a great place to relax and enjoy life, no matter the time of year. It's gorgeous every season.

The sand there is great! We enjoyed the sun and beautiful view. They have bathrooms with changing rooms, and a truck food vender.

We returned to the area where we once lived and had to stop here again. Nice spot on the Au Sable river. Great presentation of the history of the lumber industry in this area. Amazing to see what once was! Worth your time if you're in the area.

I didn't stop here to visit, but it sure looked like a great place to explore. Instead, I had a friend drop me off here and run back to the Tawas Bay Beach Resort which is exactly 4 miles.

Very quiet and peaceful since we pretty much had all trails to ourselves! You won't find spectacular views but an extensive trail system. We took the outer trails all around. That makes for about 12-13 miles of hiking.

There's a reason you'll hear shoppers say so-and-so told them they HAD to come here...this place is amazing! It's part souvenir shop, part gift shop, part craft store, part dime store...you get the idea! And so crammed to the rafters with neat, affordably-priced stuff you can stop in several times in one summer and still discover things you didn't notice before. Even the congested aisles can't detract from the wonder of this place. About the only thing I can critique is the clothing, which doesn't seem to be of the high quality it once was, when you could find the identical item as the pricey shop across the street for a fraction of the price. But hey, if you've never been here, you wouldn't even know about that! So still a 5 out of 5 for this shoppers' paradise!

This is a great park with lots of parking, including a charging station for hybrid cars, wonderful beach, a taco stand, paddle board rentals, a great new restaurant (Boathouse) across the street, and the park is free. Can't get any better. Enjoy!

Park at the bike trail parking lot at Dyer Road east side of US-23 and ride north. Ride through the old U.S. Gypsum property with views of the lake, gypsum crib and wooded areas you can't see from US-23. 7 1/2 mile paved trail into Tawas City and you can bike all the way to Tawas State Park. They have QR codes posted on trees so you can scan and learn about the forest.

Custom Tool Leather is located inside Alabaster Corner store, and has a resident leathersmith who makes anything you could ever dream from leather. There are holsters, book and bible covers all on display, even saddles that he is repairing.
You can watch as he tools leather, even his sewing is all done by hand!
Very cool to watch, and if you order in store, he ships WORLDWIDE!

This shop is a Newman Street institution, and for good reason. There's so much to love about this store. Everything here is first-rate, quality merchandise, from the wide array of cute cottage and cabin decor to the obligatory souvenir tees and sweatshirts. And they're THE destination for cute, casual women's resort apparel.
