A relatively easy walk up steps and a path, we saw a couple of old ladies walking up with sticks at a leisurely pace so it is doable. Well worth it at the top. A nice little castle ruins with great views over the harbour, ferry and the Mull of Kintyre. If you go to Tarbert, you need to make the effort to go up and admire the views.

There has to be something here for everyone! It's years since I visited Tarbert but this is the one place that had stuck in my memory - beautiful art work and a good selection of jewellery by well known and respected artists and jewellers. Arran Aromatics products, quirky cards and handcrafts fill the shelves. An interesting place to browse and shop.

Visit our custom built studio workshop in the heart of historic Tarbert, Loch Fyne, Argyll. Our building is we believe the oldest retail premise in this charming town. Zing is an ethical lifestyle brand creating clean bio active skincare, entirely botanically sourced home fragrancing products, organic perfumes and even foodie seasonings. Come and watch us make your products under your very eyes. We've nothing to hide! Positively reviewed in Stella Mag of the Telegraph, Green Parent Mag, Mother and Baby Mag and Natural Health Mag. We also make regular appearances (by invitation) in Fine Food Digest in respect of our Aromachefery Foodie Seasonings Collections. We have a long term collaboration with the Chemistry Clinic at Strathclyde University who purity test our ingredients, end products and handling and storage equipment to ensure safety for ourselves, our families and of course our customers. Buy direct from the makers with special in workshop offers or attend an eco workshop!
I attended the candle making workshop last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. Workshop lasted a couple of hours, during which time I got to check out all of the lovely oils and the background to their benefits, we selected our blends and got down to work, setting the wicks (not as easy as you would think), melting the wax and blending our oils, on waiting for the finished product to set, we were offered lots of lovely nibbles and refreshments and had a right good chat with others. Bonus was you got to take your creation home, excellent value for money. Kirsty sure does make it an interesting gathering, and I am grateful for her knowledge and input when choosing what aroma's best suited my needs and tastes. A fantastic way to spend a Sunday afternoon

Unfortunately I couldn't get to these coves. The weather was really wet and we were advised not to try and clamber over the rocks to get to them. We took their advice after seeing the amount of water coming off the hills and rushing over the roads and rocks. I got the history from a local as to why the coves are covered in shells standing up like soldiers, all very interesting. Will I try again to get to the coves? Yes I will if the weather allows.

Macalister ancestors or not, this is worth a stop if you are on Kintyre. Lady MacAlister is a wonderful hostess and owner full of charm, knowledge and character. There are many wonderful collections of cameras, dolls, teddy bears, thimbles and such.
For those with MacAlister ancestors, it is a special treat with the family history and the authentic clothing and furnishings. The house itself is like a character from the past. She just had electricity rewired and the roof needs to be repaired. She has a small gift shop and will offer you a cup of tea.

Nestled at the top of West Loch Fyne, on the Kintyre Peninsula, Tarbert Golf Club offers the casual or serious golfer a challenge. The nine-hole course has a good mix of par four and par three holes each with their own character. Often described as a 'hidden gem' the course is available to locals, visitors, passing golfers, golf parties, societies and corporate groups. To find out more have a look around our website.
Tarbert Golf Course is definitely one of the finest 9 hole courses I have played. From the opening drive alongside West Loch Tarbert to the risk and reward final hole, each hole presents its own challenge: particularly the uphill Par 3's. The stunning view over West Loch Tarbert from the 5th, the signature hole, a difficult dog leg par 4, has to be seen. The hole demands a good drive over a gully with a burn running through it.
The greens are very true and the course is well tended by the full time green keeper. A small friendly club, the honesty box for visitors is a nice touch. If you are in the Tarbert area play this course you will not be disappointed.

The Corner House is the life and soul of the Tarbert social scene. A traditional pub with an excellent welcoming landlord, Duggie MacNeill. The Corner House stocks a wide range of beers and lagers, both draft and bottled, if a spirit is your choice you will not be disappointed. Pool and darts are available and a regular quiz night is held on Friday nights. Duggie and his team are renowned for their fundraising for good causes and their support for the community. A welcome stop off whenever I am in Tarbert.

A unique Gallery and coffee shop, really friendly atmosphere, great coffee and home baking, situated right on the fishing Quay in this still working historic fishing village.
Luckenbooth Gallery is a great little oasis in Tarbert Scotland; you get a very warm welcome with nice tea/coffee and luscious cake! There are a good selection of crafts and paintings by local artists as well as the excellent engravings by Wilma herself the owner. We were really just passing but came upon this gallery on the way to the ferry. Very glad we stopped and took time to experience the atmosphere of this gallery that really knows where it belongs and makes you want to go in a explore. If you are lucky enough to be in the area this is a must for a short stop.
