The Warther Museum is home of the world famous woodcarvings of steam engines by Ernest Mooney Warther carved out of ivory, ebony, and walnut. Mrs. Warther's button collection numbers over 73,000 buttons in patterns, and her Swiss style gardens still bloom seasonally to this day. The Warther Museum is more than you can imagine as you see what two people created in just one lifetime.
We aren't into trains, so we couldn't appreciate as deeply as some other folks, but if you can step back, after viewing all the carvings, and look at the exhibit as a whole, you quickly realize this is a spectacular display of genius. Several of the people on our tour said they visited more than once, or plan to come back again. Although this is not the case for us, this shows that human artistry can still outdo machines. As for the site itself, it's easy to find and there's plenty of parking. We found it a little expensive, but we certainly understand why. Using AAA helped, I think we got either 50 cents or $1 off admission.

With over 50 dealers it isn't the biggest antique mall but it still offer a lot of just about anything you might be looking for. It had lots of wonderful collectibles and that's why we liked it. There were a couple of very cluttered booths but we just passed right by those (we don't go into cluttered booths). The people working in the front were very nice and friendly and made us feel welcome.

Founded as a communal group by 19th-century religious dissenters, Zoar has been partially restored as the Zoar Village State Memorial. Other buildings are private residences, shops, restaurants and inns.
If you like history, old buildings, and artifacts, you'll love this place. There are plenty of artifacts to look at, pictures, tools, clothing, materials, etc. Everything is very well kept and in great condition. Pains were taken to restore buildings to what they once were. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.
Only reason it wasn't a 5 is because several of the buildings were not open, but there wasn't a reduction in pricing.
We crossed paths with a family with several kids several times, and even their kids seemed to enjoy looking - of course, it's a look don't touch policy.

Fort Laurens is the site of Ohio's Only Revolutionary War fort. Today, a small museum displays the stories of the soldiers stationed at the fort and their sacrifice. An outline of the fort remains. On-site there is a Tomb of the Unknown Patriot. Fort Laurens Museum is open seasonally May-October.
I visited because an ancestor of mine helped build Ft. Laurens. The location was lovely, and the information provided was very interesting, but not overwhelming. They perfect setting for a picnic, and gaining an understanding of a less understood piece of the Revolutionary War.

This is a Park that has something for everyone! Basketball courts, tennis courts, duck pond . There are permanent rides for kids, a merry go round and Ferris wheel. There's miniature golf and a swimming pool. Plenty of picnic shelters for get togethers. Beautiful park!

Local magazine mentioned this new winery that brews artisan honey wine (mead). It is in an older building (possibly the old Speedway Inn building from the 1970's) just outside Beach City on Route 21. Tried several of their 30 flavors, including orange blossom. 18% alcohol, with a sweet taste. Tastings are $1. No beer. Live music on weekends.

The wilderness Center has trails of varying difficulty and lengths, a lovely lake with a gazebo that extends out over the lake to observe hungry fish. Different ecosystems are represented here including a beautiful Prairie area. A modern multi-story building houses hands on exhibits for all ages, a very nice gift shop and a huge observation window for bird watching. Here you can pick up hiking gear for the kiddos and yrail maps. Back outside there is a rock collecting area complete with samples and descriptions of local rocks, a huge sun dial, multiple picnic shelters, and a trail just for those with dogs. The center also offers a full schedule of family friendly activities from night hikes, star gazing, native plant sales, and stories told round the campfire. And did I mention they have a planetarium?? Located outside of the teeny town of Wilmot, home to the awesome burger joint, beebops, and minutes away from amish country central, the wilderness Center is a source of local pride. By the way...if you keep driving past the wilderness centers entrance and keep heading up the hill, you will find yourself in some BEAUTIFUL countryside...;) great photo opportunity.

This is always the the most enjoyable family entertainment ANYWHERE! Amish Country Theater is my 90 year old mother's very favorite place to visit, and the Christmas in the Country Show was the best! I really enjoyed it, but hearing my mother's laughter, is just the best thing to me. Thank you all for that. The gift of laughter is the very best gift of all, and the Amish Country Theater never disappoints in providing us this gift. Thank you all & Merry Christmas!

It's a small place and what they offer is mostly furniture (we are into collectibles). However, the store was very nice and clutter free. They also had some booths set up like a room in a house to showcase their items. I've never seen that before and really liked it. The lady at the front greeted us as we walked in and was very nice.
