I go to about six shows each year in this beautifully restored opera house. Most tickets are $20-$35. Of course, the bigger acts might cost $60-$70. There is a wide variety of performers - Country, Bluegrass, Jazz, Blues, Western Swing and more - something for just about everyone. The performers always comment about the beautiful space and usually will unplug and step to the front of the stage for an acoustic set. Yes, the seats are wooden so they’re hard. You can grab one or two seat cushions to help soften the blow. Don’t forget to drop $1 in the donation box! The stairs (about 20) are steep but there is an elevator albeit a very slow one so allow plenty of time to get to your seat. Also allow time to use the restrooms which are in the lowest level and are very clean. The show usually starts about 10 minutes late because folks don’t allow near enough time to get their business done and put their butts in a seat. So the rest of us must wait. Don’t be one of those people. Show some courtesy! The volunteer ushers are wonderful. They are pleasant, efficient and very patient but please don’t stand in the aisle so they can’t get past you to seat other patrons. They finally have developed a pre-recorded message which plays prior to every show. That is their subtle hint that it’s time to sit down and be quiet so the show can begin. This is a venue where folks are a bit more sedate so you’re not likely to see anyone dancing but you also probably won’t find a drunk in the crowd. I’ll also mention that this is a place where you can be totally comfortable if going solo - even us ladies! Most shows start at 7:30 PM and wrap up by 9:30 PM. There is plenty of parking on the side streets and Stoughton is a very safe place so you don’t have to worry about walking back to your car even if alone. They’re usually are a few other patrons walking nearby. Enjoy the show!

I visit mostly in the summer when the sweet corn is coming in. I also stop here when I don't have time to get to the Farmer Market. They usually have a nice selection of freshly picked vegetables. And when in season, apples too. I just use the store, but they have a petting zoo that people seem to like in the summer.
