Splash Surf Centre

You’ll find us right in front of The Watersplash – Jersey’s most consistent and famous surf break. It also happens to be one of the coolest destinations for live music and great food. The Splash Surf Centre operates from the iconic Splash surf ‘shak’ which has been at the heart of Jersey surfing since the early 1960's. It was the home of the original Jersey Surf School and the venue for all major International Contests on the Island. The original surf school was started in 1971 by South African lifeguards – Today our professional, friendly team continues the tradition by offering lessons and coaching to everyone who wants to learn to surf. Our instructors love surfing and love teaching; it’s a passion you’ll find here. Our teachers are all fully trained and qualified and safety is always our priority. Here at the Splash Surf Centre you’ll find a vibrant place, with a family feel, where surfing history meets modern nightlife and great waves keep the fun rolling on until Sundown!

Greve de Lecq

This place contains all the best you can find on Jersey: small harbour with a lovely coastal village, wonderful beach (one of the best on the island), fabulous views and some historical buildings (no castle here but you can find a fort nearby). If you add a pub and coffee shop where you can have a good lunch (however it is not cheap experience) everything is like the quintessence of Jersey! Even if we visited the place in rather poor weather (cludy sky and drizzling rain) we enjoyed every moment spent there.

The Channel Islands Military Museum

The Museum will open on Sunday the 16th of May from 10 till 5 and are hoping to re-open 7 days a week very shortly. The display is unrivalled on the Island and is housed in a real German bunker that was once part of Hitlers Atlantic Wall, all of which gives you the feeling of what it was like to live here during the Occupation. Wether you have a passing interest or find our recent history fascinating there is something for all, to see read and hear. The Museum is the work of one man who started collecting at the age of 7 and who is still looking for original items from the time. There are items added every week and there is always something new to be seen even if you have been before. Admission is £5 for adults and £3 for children, which is great value for money. We look forward to welcoming new visitors to the Museum as well as those who return every year for another look around.

An impressive job has been done of packing so much information and so many artefacts into a small space. Well worth a visit if you are at all interested in the German occupation of Jersey.

Batterie Moltke

There are few distinguishing landmarks, but look for the signs at the entrance to the track onto Les Landes Common at the top of the steep hill above L'Etacq. This is a restored section of the army battery 'Moltke' which once sprawled across the headland. On permanent exterior display is one of the original 15.5cm K418(f) French field guns from the battery, initially pushed over the nearby cliffs

Reviewed By CoventryCrusader

This place is interesting for any military enthusiast but it also offers great views of the West Coast of Jersey and other Channel Islands. The Moltke battery is a combination of bunkers and artillery stands for heavy guns - to fully assess its role in the defence system built by the Germans on the west coast of Jersey, you should also visit another strongoint: Corbiere, at the southern tip of the bay. Each of these points had a dozen or so heavy cannons towering over the entire beach between them, as well as own artillery tower to coordinate the fire (an impressive reinforced concrete structure - it's worth going there, as it's only about 15-20 minutes of walk, along the cliff path). And if we add to this numerous bunkers that are located over the long beach, between these points it is not difficult to conclude that abandoning the invasion of the island of Jersey was a good decision that saved the lives of many Allied soldiers, even if the inhabitants were occupied until the very end of the war . Unfortunately, we visited this place after the season, so everything could only be seen from the outside only but it was still a delight for a military lover and an interesting for engineer, because like other bunkers built by the Germans on Jersey, the structures that make up the Moltke battery, they are very solid and will probably remain part of the local landscape for hundreds of years.
