St Ives is a beautiful town, with its old historic churches and buildings and the bridge over the Great Ouse river, with places to sit and eat or drink is wonderful.

Having some family visit us last weekend and my nephew being a keen photographer we decided to have a look on Holt Island, it was out of season so we had to get the key from the Norris museum in town for a small deposit.. We locked ourselves on the island and had such an amazing walk around. The weather was kind to us and it was a beautiful morning. Didn't really get to see lots of wildlife but we were out of season. My nephew got some wonderful photos which he will hopefully put on the website soon. If you have visiting family and friends and are stuck for something to do. Take them to Holt island you won't regret it.

The Norris Museum tells the stories of Huntingdonshire from 160 million years ago to the present day. The Museum is located in picturesque St Ives, Cambridgeshire in a beautiful riverside building. It’s a welcoming, accessible and inspiring place to visit for free, run by a friendly and creative team. There's a wide range of temporary exhibitions, events and activities throughout the year aimed at all ages and different interests. Please see our website for up-to-date details. The museum is free to visit but some charges may apply to some events. Open 10am - 4pm Mondays to Saturdays throughout the year and 1-4pm on Sundays during May - September. The museum re-opened after a substantial redevelopment project in summer 2017.
The Norris Museum has always been informative and friendly but, since its refurb last year, it's in a different league. The staff are knowlegeable and helpful and the exhibits displayed thoughtfully and attractively. There are activity rucksacks to help younger visitors engage with the collection and events and outreach sessions throughout the year. The museum is committed to ensuring accessibility and is currently working on developing its autism-friendliness. Well worth a visit.

A rather lovely church, easy to find. Full of history and architecture, well worth a visit. One thing to find, are the two rabbits. Took us some time, but found them in the end.
