Grenfell House is the restored residence of Sir Wilfred Thomason Grenfell. It is part of the Grenfell Historic Properties which also include The Grenfell Interpretation Centre, Grenfell Handicrafts, Tea House HIll & walking trail, the Dock House Museum and the Jordi Bonet Murrals at the Rontunda. Sir Wilfred was a young medical doctor who came to Newfoundland in 1892 and left behind a legacy of schools, orphanages, coop's and medical services, which still exits today.
This was truly the Grenfell experience. Your admission allows you to visit several areas. There is a very informative film of Dr. Grenfell's work along the coast showing the harsh conditions he braved and a handicraft shop in the museum area. He was a remarkable man who not only doctored the people but at times acted as minister to marry couples! Then a short drive takes you to Dr. Grenfell's home where you can see his living area as well as his office. The tour guides are great and let you go at your own pace. You can also hike the trail to the old tea room. Beware of the mosquitos while hiking! Don't miss this.

This is a beautiful lighthouse on a point. There are trails to the rocky coast and wildflowers abound along it. The boardwalk leads to a viewing platform with a viewing scope but we didn't need it to see the iceberg. There are benches to sit and watch for whales. There is a good gift shop with a small museum on the hill. There is also a restaurant in what was the light keepers house and the viking hut where you can attend a dinner theater. All this in one place.

This has got to be one of the most beautiful places on this earth. Where else can you see a lighthouse, walk the trails, enjoy the beauty of the rugged coast and see whales. Icebergs too in the spring. You are also near a great gift shop, the Great Viking Feast in a sod hut, and an excellent restaurant. Something for everybody.

Fishing Point Emporium has a unique museum that shows must of the heritage and cultural items for the area. There are mounted animals that are local to the area. Many say it is the best Newfoundland. There a wonderful gift shop that carries most of the souvenirs you would need and also a variety of local crafts. This location is ideal for seeing Icerbergs and whales.
This gift shop is wonderful in that it carries everything from T-shirts, music CDs, jewelry, and books to homemade jams. The couple who own the shop are the ones who make the jams and are so friendly. The husband sells postcards that he has taken of the area. There is also a free museum which will accept donations. The view from the veranda is awesome. If you're lucky you could spot a whale or an iceberg.
