This town has a idyllic backdrop against a very good reflection pool (small pond) with the famous Blue Church. With the snowy mountains backdrop and wintry cold, this little very beautiful small village is very quaint and photogenic to capture. The pics are captivating in an equally stunningly quiet and peaceful backdrop. Does not feel real. The wow factor is definitely strong and equally too is thrilling high mountain ride all the way from Egilsstadir town. The drive across snow capped mountain are so emotionally beautiful with fresh soft snow all across the 30 min ride with foggy sights strewn along the pass.

Skaftfell, est 1998, operates in the field of contemporary art on a international level. It’s activities are based upon exhibitions and events, alongside a residency and education program. The curatorial focal point is a high-quality mix of progressive contemporary art and traditional art, either by domestic or international artists. A Bistro is located on the ground floor.

Very nice waterfall along the road down to Seydsifjordur. It is well worth a stop. You don't necessarily need to stay long, although if you are into photography it is a great place to set up your tripod and snap away. We visited on our way into Seydsifjordur and then again the next morning as we left town. It seems to get a bit crowded during the day so we were sure to be there early in the morning as we were on our way. If you're there during a busier time of day/year, you might have difficulty avoiding people in your shot. There is a trail nearby to see many more waterfalls. They can tell you more about it at the visitor information center in town.

It's a short hike (1 hour) up to the sound sculpture. A little steep, but not hard. The views of the fjord are great, and it's fun playing with the sound effects of the sculpture. Also good picnic spot.

Museum in authentic houses and surroundings. Project orientated exhibitions seek to envisage the arrival of modern times in Iceland and the rich history of a unique town that played a key roll in the social and economic development of one of Europe's poorest and most isolated countries around 1900. Includes Icelands first telegraph station, East Iceland's first hydro-elecric plant and mechanical shop, a printshop, foundry and numerous other machinery and trivia. Fun and friendly.
