popped in for a visit the week before the big races. The smaller cars run then and the place is not crowded at all so much more interesting for a quick visit. You can wander places you likely couldn't get to on race week itself, like the stands and private booths. Lots of show and shine cars, vettes, mustangs etc to wander though

Lake Istokpoga is a 26,762.9-acre freshwater lake in Highlands County, Florida. It is fed by two creeks, Arbuckle Creek and Josephine Creek. The oblong-shaped lake is approximately 5 miles wide by 10 miles long. Fishing, Air boat rides and Seeing the locks are a must do!
This was my first but definitely nowhere near my last visit here.
I stopped off at the North end of Lake Istokpoga at the boat ramp & was pleasantly surprised at what I saw.
Beautiful enclosures over picnic tables with plenty of grills available.
The Men's bathroom was amazingly clean.
The best part for me was two things.
1. Around the boat launch is a nice wooden deck with benches and trash bins, very easy to fish in that area.
2. The scenic short trails full of trees draped with Spanish moss and fenced in enclosures with beautiful horses.
Lake Istokpoga is five miles wide by ten miles in length so I have plenty of exploring to do!
the fishing is top rated with people from across the nation seeking largemouth bass, bluegills & black crappie in abundance.
If you're looking for a nice getaway from the daily hustle & bustle, this is the spot!

We drove several hours to take our 7 year old son "Mining". After a detailed explanation of the different buckets (Large variety, something for everyone) we dug in. The variety and quantity of the different stones and crystals was unbelievable. My wife and I were quite literally shocked (We remembered "Panning for gems" as kids in the mountains and getting just a few pieces of quarts). We left with bags full of stones and large pieces of quartz and geodes - all worth several times what we paid. Priceless experience, we will absolutely be back. The owner was friendly and really knew his stuff.

The Sebring Downtown Historic District is a U.S. historic district (designated as such on March 16, 1990) located in Sebring, Florida. The district is at Circle Drive and Ridgewood Drive from Mango Street to Magnolia Avenue. It contains 22 historic buildings.
Downtown Sebring has the quaint charm of the small town that it represents. Its downtown circle (with a park inside), is the perfect place for a relaxing afternoon doing nothing, but reflecting, soaking up the sun, and taking in the small, quaint shops and businesses. Downtown is well off the main Rt. 27 drag, but worth the adventure.

There was no play or function going on when I visited but there was a group of people getting ready to do something. I'm not sure if they were going to rehearse or something else but I got to take a good look at the locale. Very nice indeed.

Great place to take the young children. Older ones not so much. I wish they offered more, but my five year old niece adores the place!

If you have any interest in maritime topics this is a treasure trove of uniforms, pictures, models, WW II "war trophies, plaques, and so much more. You will learn a lot, if you were in the USN, USMC, or USCG you will surely find yourself walking down memory lane. If you have your children or grandchildren with you it is a nice place to "show off" and share history.

While this beach was high and dry for several years, there is now a good water level and an excellent beach front.
There is a good picnic area with receation equipment for kids.
The Sebring Library and Performing Arts Theatre are both adjacent to the beach park.
