The House of Mr. Clutterbuck is an experiential and action-oriented exhibition that offers variety of fun things to do. The house is based on children's books such as The Tales of King Arthur, The Out-of-this-World Space Book and Doghill Kids Go To Town by the Finnish author and cartoonist Mauri Kunnas. In the House of Mr. Clutterbuck children can actually take part in the story and play in the world that is created by Mauri Kunnas in his books. From May to the end of October also the Mr. Clutterbuck's Fun on Wheels Yard is open. Here you can drive pedal cars around a city, that looks very much like the city of Pawchester from the Pawchester Tales books, written by Mauri Kunnas. But don't worry, even if you haven't read a single book written by Mauri Kunnas, you can still come and enjoy playing in the beautiful scenes at The House of Mr. Clutterbuck Welcome to the adventure!
Herra Hakkaraisen talo - the House of Mr Clutterbuck, is named after a well-loved character of a children's author, Mauri Kunnas. The house presents several themes of his books, e.g. the Knights of the Round Table, Space, and a small town Finland in the 19th century. The house is not big, but the rooms are very carefully made and encourage children to submerge into play and using their imagination. There's also a room for just relaxing, reading and drawing. You don't need to know the stories or the characters in order to enjoy the place. In the summer there is also a fun outdoor area where children can use pedal-cars in a miniature city. A summer cafe run by local youth sells coffee and snacks. What my family best likes the place is the authentic, non-plastic feel about it, and how it encourages also bigger kids to play. Depending on the child, I'd recommend it from ca. 2 years to 10 years of age. PRO TIP Herra Hakkaraisen talo is right next door to two cool museums suitable for kids, so you can make it a day of culture and fun.
