From mountains to the sea, all in this one hike.
We parked at Waddell Beach State Park and hiked to Berry Creek Falls on a Monday. It was 15 miles round trip measured by Map My Hike and my GPS. It is not a difficult hike to the wood platform where we had lunch looking at the waterfall. Most of the path is wide and listed as fire road although covered in soft tree debris, so very comfortable underfoot. Most of the hike is shaded and runs above the creek. There are lots of redwood trees, ferns and wild flowers.

Wow, where to begin? I joined the week-long new year's retreat in Mexico without doing any research and thought I was heading into a "yoga" retreat that would be mostly about fitness. I was WRONG. And what I experienced was EVEN BETTER! Indescribably so. I am already ready to book it again for new year's next year. This was truly a transformative experience in totally unexpected ways. Tammy is a very special person, and her co-facilitator for this retreat, Dave, was as well. The space these two created for us was one of safety and joy! They led us through Hatha yoga and many other types of yoga and different modalities that I had never heard of or tried, all to incredible results. Leaving the retreat I felt an incredible amount of joy and release and ready to take on an amazing year. (Can't say I've ever felt that way after waking up hungover from a new year's eve spent out at the bars...) The group at the retreat was also great -- I know that I will see people that I met here again. Wonderful community and friends that could only be created in an atmosphere like this -- full of vulnerability, joy, pain, openness and love. I can't recommend enough!!!

Floatation therapy otherwise known as REST (Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy) is a holistic way to heal the mind and body. Unlike getting a massage, doing yoga, or even sleeping on a comfortable bed, floating is a unique experience of it’s own. The buoyancy created by the salt to water ratio creates an “anti-gravity” environment allows you to float effortlessly.

As one drives to the main street area of Saratoga, there is a very nice memorial to World War I. On the plaque, Frank William Mann, John P. Pourray, Frederick Edward Sanders, Clark Booth Waterhouse, Christine N. Pedersen, and Fred Gordon Thomson are honored. The monuments there are very nice. Since it was 4th of July week-end, the tree was aso lit up and there were American banners. We found it very nice way to show our respects.

A Mediterranean-style villa with intricate gardens and grounds, which also includes an artists residency, a small gallery, hiking trails, and both indoor and outdoor theatres for concerts and performances. Don't miss BRUCE MUNRO AT MONTALVO: STORIES IN LIGHT! A spectacular installation of light-based artworks inspired by C.S. Lewis's The Chronicles of Narnia, showing October 28, 2018 - March 17, 2019.
This used to be someone's house, which was donated to the city, so big and has hiking trails in the back and concert venue. I wish they had a cafe to take a break and enjoy big trees, but I don't ask too much.. I think parking is free but limited (no admission fee). That's probably why they provide buses back and forth from WV college when there's a concert. Before you go, check their hour and if it's open cuz they have some private parties and events, and we can't get in, esp on weekends. Today I saw some photo shootings, wedding dress shots? A place to visit in Saratoga.
