Santiago is one of those metropolitan joys where the more you look, the more you find. Funky cafes and dance clubs dot Bellavista, Forest Park art collections range from pre-Columbian to contemporary, and architecture runs the gamut from the 16th-century San Francisco Church to mirrored office towers. Shop with the locals at Mall Panora¡mico and give your palate meals to remember with hearty Chilean fare.

This 860 meter hill in the center of Santiago features a zoo and wine museum at the midway point and a gondola ride to the top, where a Virgin Mary statue overlooks the city.
It has several attractions in its 1784 acres. Central Park is only 842 acres by comparison. Some of its most important attractions are: the sanctuary and balcony of the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception; The National Zoo of Chile, where you can get dazzled with the different species of animals; the historic funicular railway and the recently inaugurated cable way. From the top of the park you can enjoy a panoramic view of Santiago and the Andes Mountain Range, also there are two swimming pools, plazas and games for children.

The climb up this natural 230 foot hill offers a worthy reward: breathtaking panoramic views of the city.
We had the benefit of a very good personal guide who provided in depth knowledge of the beautiful park. This made our visit much more interesting.

Tour the eclectic architecture of this home which served as the romantic hideaway for famed poet Pablo Neruda and his wife Matilde, as portrayed in the 1995 film "Il Postino."
This is a fabulous museum paying tribute to the great Nobel Prize poet Pablo Neruda. The museum is literally the house Neruda built and lived in with his wife Matilde Urrutia in Santiago. Please note you are not allowed to take any photographs inside the house. You’re free to take as many photographs outside the house, however. You’re given an audio guide which explains the different parts of the house. This was the most underrated site I visited in Santiago. I would recommend this museum as a must visit for anyone who has even a slight interest in literature. Even those who are not interested in literature will appreciate this museum as a great tribute to one of Chile’s greatest sons.

This bohemian neighborhood has plenty of shops, bookshops, design shops, museums, cinemas, theater, restaurants and bars, hotels and tourist appartments, and more.
The streets are busy with sellers of books and maps and antiques and lots of other items and there are wonderful restaurants and bars as well. We stayed in this area 2 years ago and loved it - a happening place a night, and frankly during the day as well. We have been going back each day to try a new restaurant. It backs up to the GAM museum and is a fun place to wander. Check out Jose Ramon for artisenal Evers and good burgers, Bocanariz for 250 different option of Chilean wines and wonderful food, or a number of other street side restaurants offering food, beer or ice cream. You will keep going back!

The Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art (Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino) in Santiago, Chile is a jewel among the world's museums and a highlight to any trip to Chile. Widely regarded as one of the best museums in Latin America, this unique establishment houses an impressive collection of artifacts from ancient Central and South America, which underscores the rich cultural diversity and artistic splendor of the Pre-Columbian Americas.
An ultra modern, beautiful museum with the most fascinating display of Chilean treasures, and not only. The amazing exhibits include pottery, sculpture, jewelry and textiles from the Chilean territory as well as from central America. We followed the free English tour (which was excellent) for about half hour and then we wondered through the floors on our own. Make sure you don’t miss the room with the textiles, which is part of the permanent exhibition. It is a room on the first floor, usually dark with revolving doors in order to preserve the artworks. Truly amazing.

Founded in 1856, Cousino Macul is the only winery in Chile amongst those established in the 19th century that continues in the hands of the original founding family. The company remains 100% under family control, producing limited quantities of fine wines. The mission of Cousino Macul is to produce world-class wines that are unmistakably Chilean, carrying the distinctive character of the Maipo Valley.
We took the premium tour with an absolutely fantastic tour guide Amaro who combined history and humor in a totally enjoyable tour with tastings along the route. Then Amaro provided us with a delightful tasting of six wines each with a wine pairing that was scrumptious. Gracias Amaro, you made our day

A visit to the modern Parque Bicentenario is well worth it for a leisurely stroll or bike ride. It is located in the heart of the Vitacura community, bordering the south side of the Mapocho river. It is rather a large park but carries a relaxing atmosphere for both locals and tourists alike. There is a large man made lagoon, with beautiful views of the water and city skyline & on a clear day the majestic Andes can be seen in the distance. The Lagoon, is also home to numerous black necked swans as well as other unusual fowl and fish. Children and adults alike, can be seen feeding the birds at all times. A lovely park to visit if you have time.

Experience Santiago highest viewing platform at the top of the tallest building in Latin America. SkyCostanera is the start point to know Santiago. SkyCostanera offers an exceptional experience, a panoramic view of the city in 360° at 300 meters high
This is one of the best views of Santiago you can get. Sky Costanera is the tallest building in Latin America and has a great vantage view of the Andes Mountains, local parks and skyscrapers. Both of the top 2 floors has windows, w the highest floor having open roof deck. I went on a Thursday at 6pm and it was not crowded at all. Very tranquil and relaxing. In fact, out of all the talk skyscraper buildings I’ve been to (Top of the Rock, CN Tower, Space Needle, Eiffel Tower, etc) this good as one of my favorite ones. Reviews say to go at sunset, bc I came in the summer, it closes during sunset (9pm) but if you get a chance to I’m sure it’s beautiful and well worth.

My wife and I were in Santiago Chile for 4 days and 3 nights and elected to take a ride on the Teleferico (gondola car). We were there on a Saturday. There were many families about. We stood in line for 55 minutes to buy tickets and ride the gondola. We purchase a combo ticket which allowed us to ride up on the gondola and take the funicular down. There are bathrooms and refreshments at the top of the gondola ride. It was very scenic and well worth the wait and the price of admission.
