This Stupa is great looking. Inside you can see through bars that there are four Buddha footprints being protected by the stupa. You cannot go inside of the stupa, but you can see inside. There are two beautiful gold Buddha images. Very nice, worth the visit for sure....

It isn't possible to drive right up to the temple and gardens. A car park is provided some way down the mountain and for a small fee a taxi truck (Song taew) transports visitors to the top. The car park is very very dusty and little shade is available. Once at the top it is just a case of walking and viewing the marvellous garden areas with a few waterfalls. The woodwork is stunning. Beautifully maintained tree trunks and branches that are on display in and around the temple buildings. Apparently this wood was donated to this temple by the Thai government after it was seized many years ago, having been stopped from being illegally exported from Thailand. There are a couple of coffee bars within the gardens but there is very little food available - just a few basic snacks. It is an ideallic place for many. General access is good with firm walkways but but due to the number of steps wheelchairs and unstable walkers might choose to give this place a miss. There are wheelchairs available for use during your visit but access to some areas are not possible.

Phra That Phu Phek 20 km west of Sakon Nakhon city and 9 km south of Route 22. The small ancient sandstone 8 meter high stupa is on a rectangular laterite base. An energetic climb up 491 steps to the top from the temple buildings and car park is well worth the exercise. The quiet location and beautiful views make this a must see when visiting Sakon Nakhon. This rural temple and ruin is surrounded by many trees on a hill side overlooking the Sakon Nakhon countryside
