This festival began in 2001 as part of the Sakado Citizen's Festival, which was held to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of a municipal system. Do to steadily increasing attendance, the scale of the festival has grown to the point that it is now one of the foremost yosakoi (traditional Japanese dance) festivals in the country. The dancers enthrall the audience with their unique costumes and original music and moves as they perform dances based around the traditional Yosakoi Bushi and Yosakoi Naruko dance. In addition to the parade, there are also stage performances as well as numerous street stalls set up along the roads and plazas. Dance and photography contests will also be held alongside the festival.

10. Japan Scooter Tours

I pick up from Sakado Station north Exit at 09:00. We then change to motor scooters and drive through lush forests to ancient temples and shrines 1000s of years old, past lakes and waterfalls stopping at scenic cafes along the way. Food is not included but the cafes are very cheap. In winter, when it's too cold for bikes and for those with no license I do the whole tour by car.
