My second time at these falls. both times have been exhausting, but one can take their time. We moved fast as we knew what awaited us at the end. One of the best plunge pools in the world.

Papillote Tropical Gardens

Wander through the Papillote Tropical Gardens. Frogs and other creatures live contentedly with 30 kinds of bird and 19 species of butterfly amongst hot and cold waterfalls and soothing hot mineral pools.

Papillote Gardens is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. It's lush green rainforest, brilliant tropical flowers, hot pools and cold waterfall are magical. There are wonderful hot pools to soak in with the sounds of the birds and the rainforest around you. Great for friends, family or just some time on your own.
I was there in February 2020 and it is indeed open! Owner Anne Jno-Baptiste is a delight! Thank you for sharing this eden-on-earth with us :-)

Waitukubuli Trail

Reviewed By jabuendia721 - Bronx, United States

The beauty of Dominica is on full display on this stretch of the Waitukubuli Trail. The 6.8 km hike took about 4 1/2 hours and took my wife, our host/guide Tom and I through pristine rainforest. From lizards, to birds and enormous palms to tiny flowers, this is a nature lover’s little slice of heaven. A few words of caution, bring the proper gear (pants, comfy hiking footwear, hat, more water than you think you need, a good walking stick) get a knowledgeable guide (Tom from Wanderlust Caribbean is the man), take your time and watch your footing (a couple of tricky spots that need some extra care). Don’t let any of that discourage you as the views are unmatched.

I was taken by bus to this lookout. Great view of the city of Roseau. Next time I would like to walk up the hill from the botanical gardens to here.

It' s a nice place with typical stores. A beautiful place for the sunset (west-exposed) , Water warm and quiet but not clean 'cause the sand is dark but I could see a wonderful lion fish. Easily linked to St Joseph beach for a relaxing walk.

Dominica Botanic Gardens

The forty acres of garden include orchid trees, bottle palms, the Carib Wood tree and an unidentifiable no-name tree.

Reviewed By reedmangreg - Chicago, United States

The grounds of the Botanic Garden are fairly small but if you consider the fact that they are surrounded by the natural terrain limitations in Dominica on hand and then on the other enclosed by the Roseau overcrowded streets and both residential and commercial buildings this is almost like a little paradise garden in the area! I admit there is not that much to see when it comes to variety and area but the few old trees in certain spots are absolutely beautiful and stunning; we came here to see the "famous" Baobab tree that "fell asleep" on the yellow bus but left the place being more amazed (with first still being a treat!) by the huge tree right across from it - look at the size and proportions to humans around it! TIP: if you drove here and have extra time and comfy shoes do yourself a favor and take a hike to Morne Bruce - it's much more rewarding to hike it than to drive up the hill (despite the direct parking vista point being nicer than the adjacent one that you will see first when hiking)
